But if it wasn't for right wing groups spreading vaccine disinformation, more people would have gotten vaccinated, fewer infections would have occurred and the virus would have had fewer opportunities to mutate into new variants.

1) Fauci and Biden lying about the efficacy 2) Pharmaceutical companies being exempt from liability for any damage their vaccines cause 3) Having to still follow “covid rules” even after being vaccinated; no point if nothing changes 4) People vaccinated getting covid. 5) people understand their risk of dying from covid and make judgments accordingly.
1. They were talking about the efficacy against the alpha variant (at a time when omicron didn't exist and delta had just been identified). 2. I never stated that I think that they should be immune; you're putting words in my mouth. 3. You can handle a higher case load before you have to impose COVID rules if more people are vaccinated so yeah it changed. 4. No vaccine is 100% effective. 5. Except viruses are transmissible and when people act irresponsibly it screws over others; any fight against a pandemic is first and foremost a collective one.

1) They're working on new vaccines but if we don't curtail the spread (through restrictions and vaccinations; the vaccine is less effective against delta and omicron but it isn't useless) the virrus will continue to mutate into new variants faster than we can develop vaccines for them.

4 & 5. Flu vaccines are 40-60% effective while the vaccine is 95% effective against alpha and 88% effective against delta. Also, the flu hasn't killed this many people in this amount of time in over 100 years.
Why aren't those invading factions? Flu, polio, smallpox, malaria, swine flu, SARS etc have all killed people so why haven't we treated those as an invasion? Why not just keep the world locked down so that no one dies ever again?
Yeah, we did and we never required that people trap themselves in their homes by law because of it. If we really did then the only reason we would have ever gotten the cure or vaccines for it is if the people acted in defiance of those laws.

You do not need the state to do that. You can make that decision with your own brain which is something the state has no right to own but will trip over themselves at any opportunity to do that.
That is reasonable but it is still not comparable to covid because, despite having your judgement impaired, it is still a decision you make. It also has a far higher death rate than covid.

The comparisons of cases and deaths is one of if not the only way to say how deadly a virus is. As far as I have seen, all this government overreach is total overkill and it made a lot of people angry.
937,678 out of 76,961,315 cases (1.2% death rate) is still pretty consistent throughout the time we had it. Especially considering the comorbidities a lot of Americans have.
Most countries were affected, either fighting, being invaded, etc. South America remained absent, as I think about it. Southern African countries, maybe. Nut seriously large populated areas were fcked up by it.

We can fight the virus but what we are doing now is not the right way to go about it. We should vaccinate the vulnerable and encourage the healthy people to develop natural immunity.
And of course we do not need the stomp on our civil liberties in order to do this.
Well I would still approach it the same way. Vaccinate the vulnerable but let people have freedom of choice without trying to unperson them or make it so they can't participate in society.
I agree with you partly there. But like anyone being dangerous with their lives society can keep them out of most public areas. No shoes, no shirt, no vax.
