The government is in the pockets of big pharma. Any treatment or preventive measures that's not profitable to big pharma is swept under the rug.

Because the protection against disease those measures take years to manifest themselves so by the time they could protect you from COVID-19, the pandemic would be over anyway.

Yeah, but if you make that change during the pandemic, it wouldn't decrease your chance of dying of covid until after the pandemic was over.

Because people go haywire and think this crazy virus which sometimes has no symptoms is no big deal.

And natural immunity fades. We need to be vaxxing. Its harmless.

You do understand that history is not a very good predictor of the future, right? The fact that something has not happened in your past is not an indication that it won't happen in the future. But go ahead, don't get vaccinated, and take your chances.

I’m young, I’m healthy, and I take care of myself. The new variant is nothing more than what I literally had this past week and it’s tapering down after this week according to sources. No I won’t listen to your non sense ☺️

I really don't care if you catch Covid and wind up disabled or dead like millions of others, except that in the process of that happening, you might infect others or help the virus to make new variants. Your narcissism ("I'm too healthy and special to get sick") and rank stupidity may well be your undoing. So be it.

Weird that vaccinated people are also spreading the virus and also weird that Covid had been getting more mild by the year. And of course my existence bothers you, because you are afraid of those two factors occurring. Let’s not pretend like you don’t care when I’ve seen you argue this logic multiple times with people

Vaccine is only most effective in America because 95% of the population is obese and in bad shape. But you can’t sit here and argue and say your health doesn’t contribute to immunity because that is absolutely bullshit. They should be promoting good health. So the question here is why don’t they?

It has been promoted. At the very start they said obesity was a risk factor. People actually got more obese anyway. Again, we've been through this for like twenty types of cancer, two types of diabetes, who knows how many digestive and colon problems, but none of it stops people from stuffing their faces.

Well of course saying “obese is a risk factor” is not going to do much. Why doesn’t the government spend money about in depth talk about health? And it’s because the government doesn’t promote any health. The only person I’ll ever give credit to doing that is Michelle Obama

And how did that work out? Basically no change. Lines still wrap around every McDonalds I drive passed.

Anyway, it's a bit late to use diet as means to head it off. That's the sort of thing that needed to be discussed a year ago, at the latest, but our politics were too chaotic at that time.

I disagree. Even with the things above if they were just advertised in the slightest someone might say “hey I saw this could be beneficial to my health during Covid, let me try it out” the government doesn’t give advertisement to actual natural health because they like the money

The government is a nonprofit enterprise. Indeed, if anything they go into deep debt.

But its still the case that, in combating COVID, the vaccines are the most effective. Diet is nice but not near the caliber. That's why the government is focusing so much on vaccines. Maybe if people just got the vaccines the government would switch its focus to diet.

But why not focus on vaccines AND good health? Why not both? Why do so much pushing on the vaccines? I mean I can sit down on the couch for 2 hours and see at least 10 vaccine commercials why is that? Is that because they know the most unhealthy people sit on the couch for so many hours?

Again, vaccines are the most effective tool we have. Scattering the message only ends up losing the attention. Besides, if the Biden administration said to eat healthier, probably 40% of the country would eat only at fast food restaurants for the rest of their life, just to spite him.

Again, because they want to focus entirely on that which is most effective, which is the vaccine. They've been down the road of trying to make people eat healthier but can't get passed the hump of unhealthy food being significantly cheaper to make.

I disagree. They are just making themselves look more untrustworthy by not admitting there’s other ways to protect you from the virus besides the vaccine. I even saw a commercial that said “3 days to build immunity from the vaccine” “1. Get vaccinated” and then the other two reasons are just bs reasons afterwards. They don’t even educate people. They just say “get vaccinated” you think telling people to get vaccinated at this point is going to work if they haven’t gotten vaccinated already? Of course not. They just don’t want to admit there isn’t any other ways to help fight against any illness

I once again disagree. They are focusing on only vaccines because it makes them the most money. Just like rapid tests costed crazy amounts of money during the rise of Covid a few weeks ago and now the government is offering people free rapid tests now that the numbers are declining. There’s a reason for this and it’s MONEY

The government's budget is freely availible for all to see. They are 20 trillion in debt, so the idea of a profit seem to miss the mark by a bit.

I mean, in order for any government to function it needs tax revenue, and it's best to have a tax system that collects highest from luxury and lowest from necessity. Taxing alcohol and marginal income taxes are, thus, both wise ideas. But none of it changes the fact that our government has not seen a profit in its methods of revenue collection in a hundred years. That's why we are 20 trillion in debt. And the fact also remains that the manufacturer of rapid tests (and all other COVID related items) are private companies that collect a private profit. They are the ones making bank off the pandemic. Not the government. The government is the one giving them the money to offset the costs to us.

Now, it is also true that many of the people in government have partial ownership in some of these private companies, and thus are also gaining personal profit off the pandemic. But I assure just as many have partial ownership in whole food sales and such. And while id probably agree if you said members of government shouldn't have partial ownership of business (stocks) because thats a conflict of interest, the fact is they do anyway. You would have to contact your own representative to see where they stand on this - that's how democracy is supposed to work, after all - and if it's a Democrat you'll probably receive a response (if it's a republican you'll just get a campaign ad in response). Just make sure you make very clear you are not being an antivaxxer or you may end up written off as one.

of course it isn't because it's not a cure, a healthy lifestyle decreases your risk for tons of illnesses, but avoiding sugar and taking vitamin d isn't going to cure your cancer, prevent you from getting infected with a virus, or getting heart disease... it may decrease the likelihood of that happening but it doesn't give you immunity... The government has don't a lot in regards to education people on what a healthy lifestyle and diet looks like.

The CDC has been talking about the dangers of obesity and unhealthy lifestyles for a long long time. At the end of the day people chose to be ignorant about their health. It's a well known fact living a healthy lifestyle, taking your vitamins and spending time outside is good for your health
