The work of the Jan 6 Committee has shown that Trump really did plan and try to overthrow the government. He will inevitably be tried by the Justice Dept and convicted. What penalty should he pay for attempting to overthrow out Constitutional, elected Government?

You're jumping the gun, and mis-informed.

The Jan 6 event was not an attempt to "overthrow the government" because the government at the time was the Trump Administration. Trump was not trying to overthrow himself, that makes no sense.

Trump and his supporters had an initially peaceful rally and march to Congress to protest against some questionable results of the November Presidential election. A minority of participants got out of hand and it escalated to include violence, which is very sad.

Personally, I don't think that former President Trump will be found guilty of anything. Some of the event's participants will be found guilty, some already have, and will serve jail time.

Ok, I might understand your irrational hate for the man but the evidence is not there. If the swamp monsters had evidence, they would use it. Innocent until proven guilty. I hope you would expect the same privilege as a constitutional right. I don't trust most of what our government says. I learned that during the Vietnam war. The government lied every day. I don't think that has been fixed yet. And I am not a member of either party and I don't consume propaganda. I search for truth. That is not easy today. Trump may not have been perfect, but other leaders were scared of him, and respected him. Now because of Biden in charge? We have never been closer to WW3 than we are at this moment in time!

Trump didn’t commit treason as he was never there and didn’t know they were gonna attack the Capital. All Trump said was to March to the Capital to voice your opinion about the election.

look If it really was so bad, then why have they waited a year to arrest Trump yet the most they can do is get the people and put them unlawful in jail torturing them?
This siege thing that lasted 2 hours is nothing compared to saying this was worse than Peale Harbor (that started WW2 for 4 years) or 9/11(which changed flying protocols and started TSA) recently said by Kamala Harris. That in my view was unforgivable, which makes me question if the siege was planned by them as well

Considering he did not commit Treason he should not get any time. Nothing Trump said was Treason. He was using political rhetoric similar to (but much more mild than) that used by liberals. Advocating the overthrow of the US government carries a penalty of no more than 20 years. If Trump is found guilty, he and his cohorts deserve the maximum penalties accorded by the very laws he consistently attempts to subvert and overturn. A judge will have the final say as to his sentence.
