I watched the clip after it happened. Seemed to me she was trying to make a point but everyone over-reacted so harshly over her mis-wording what she was trying to say that they lost sight of any point she was going to make.

I believe the point she was trying to make was that Hitler/Nazi's in general were about power and dominance, and race was just a vehicle to get there. How do you play on people's fears if you don't give them an "other"?

However back during the Holocaust era, things were different. People didn’t see race as just being a skin phenotype but also as an ethnicity (Aryans, Slavs, etc)
