I’ve read several responses about “black culture”, “rap music” or just plain poverty

Poverty is mindset more so than circumstances. There are a lot of black families today that still tell their children that they’ll never amount to much because of the white man. You instill this mindset at such a young age, and kids ask themselves what’s the point in trying if the system is against me. A lot of black families still hold a lot of resentment towards white people as well. Whites have treated blacks like shit for a long time and people don’t forget. That resentment doesn’t allow people to see what’s going on today though.
I also do think there’s a huge issue with black culture today. You’re either a rapper or professional athlete in the medias glance of what success looks like as a black person. Not somebody who works in STEM or a doctor. Rap music promotes promiscuity, having kids out of wedlock, gang violence, and status driven by street cred. All terrible. All of it. Statistics show that if a black kid doesn’t have a father figure, he’s much more likely to end up in prison. Fatherless homes are one of the biggest threats to black communities. Yet we promote all this bullshit as cool. The media has convinced people police are the issue rather than the culture. It’s ass backwards in my opinion. No logic at all.
There is no cause as it's not a real problem.
What you forget to look at is the quality of the statistics kept. Most crime reporting is done in Black communities as most police presence and pressure is there.
White communities can do whatever the fuck the like, and it's no wonder most meth labs and slave labour is found in those communities.

institutional Poverty.
My grandfather told me to respect the law, the black mans grandfather was lynched by the sheriff in a KKK outfit.
My local sheriff went on a rant about "the coon in charge" when obama was elected who do you think he's going to charge with a crime?
Lets face it, we have a lot of right wing racists in law enforcement and the rich white guys get away with crimes because they have all the lawyers.
So, it’s Whitey’s fault that brothas are shooting brothas and robbing motherfuckers.
Sounds logical.
People have been fucking up each other’s ancestors for millennia. What makes black people so goddamn special? The fact that their own ancestors in Africa sold them as slaves to some Arabs... and some Indians... and some Europeans... and to other Africans.
But I know, it’s all Whitey’s fault. 🙄
Who is doing well? Black people? I agree.
The collapse of stable families with a mom and dad and a nuclear family household.
I believe they had good family units until about the 60's and then it has collapsed since then with fatherless homes and a mom having 5 kids from 5 different fathers increasing exponentially.
Why?
That can be debated but the end result is failing at school, dropping out, gangs, violence, alcohol and drug abuse, crime, communities destroyed.
Oh boy, victim blaming -_-
www.nevadacurrent.com/.../
@Ad_Quid_Orator oh boy. An SJW who wants to blame sYsTeMIc rAcIsM for everything wrong with African-Americans.
African-Americans are no more victims than Caucasians, Hispanics, Asians, or Native Americans.
But I know, I know, “oppression.” Blah blah blah.
@Agagagagaga Well I guess you think the reason for higher poverty and crime rates is bad geneti-*hem
"culture".
@Ad_Quid_Orator correct
I don’t think it’s about victim blaming. From what I can gather, he just stated what he believes is holding the black community back. It seems logical. Using terms like victim blaming seems to be an emotional response. Fatherless homes do statistically breed a lot of ramifications.
@Not_Average
He's a troll... just let him be.
@Ad_Quid_Orator No. it has nothing to do with genetics. It has everything to do with culture, bad parenting, and single parent homes.
Just go ahead and call me a racist if it makes you more comfortable. Of course your opinion means nothing to me, but if you think it’ll make your day better by calling someone a racist then go for it.
It's in their blood...

... because lead does that when it gets in your system.
That's the most likely hypothesis I've seen, but I'd also suggest that the lag in decline of violent crime is "that's just the way it is" in poor black communities (where most people are poor, while poor white communities are more likely to be a mixture of income ranges). If everybody in your community is poor, there's no-one to spend money on education or employ you when you get out of school. Certainly doesn't help.
Wasn't there Biden-backed legislation to replace lead piping? How that's still needed in the 21st century beats me.
@goaded I’m still only seeing “hypothesis” mentioned but the studies are ongoing. Agreed. But still, correlation of polluted poor communities and violence in poor communities still still doesn’t add up to “causation”.
www.brookings.edu/.../
"Protecting children from exposure to lead is important to lifelong good health. No safe blood lead level in children has been identified. Even low levels of lead in blood have been shown to negatively affect a child’s intelligence, ability to pay attention, and academic achievement. While the effects of lead poisoning are permanent, if caught early, there are things parents can do pdf icon[PDF – 234 KB] to prevent further exposure and reduce damage to their child’s health."
www.cdc.gov/.../health-effects.htm
Do that to a whole community, and what happens? A lot of poor choices.
It's not totally proven (what are you going to do, inflict lead poisoning on one community and not another?), but it does explain a lot, and there are few, if any, alternative hypotheses that do a well.
www.motherjones.com/.../
I think they're linked. Where black people are poor, everybody in the area tends to be poor, where white people are poor, at least some people in the area are weathy. You don't get lead piping in places where people are wealthy. So poor whites aren't as affected by lead as poor black communities. Poor people do tend to make bad decisions, but that's because they're poor. The lead adds to that.
That's not to say there aren't criminal assholes who take advantage of decent people; I've experienced that first hand.
There's nothing biologically making black people do this so it has to be their environment and culture.
then how do you account for these things:
despite Asians being a tiny minority in the USA, Asians dominate most career fields where "brains required". There are more than enough whites kids applying themselves in school that this is statistically impossible if Asians did not have a higher average IQ. Asians should be drowned out by the supermajority of whites and we'd be blaming "racism" for their lack of advancement
NFL/NBA - Essentially zero Asians and a supermajority of blacks, even though there are many times more white high school kids trying their hardest at organized sports. Statistically impossible unless there is "race realism".
Zero research hospitals on the continent of Africa, zero cell phone companies, computer companies, jet or jet engine manufacturers, heavy equipment manufacturers or successful car companies. zero teaching hospitals and zero accredited Universities, zero ship builders. All other continents have all or most of these advancements and over decades the west has poured trillions into aid efforts. Zero black Nobel prize winners in a scientific field ever. The tiny country of Finland with only 24 million people has produced 5 times more Nobel prizes (if all fields are included) than the entire continent of Africa which has over a billion inhabitants. Statistically, the continent of Africa should produce 41 times the number of Nobel prizes that Finland produces based on population levels if all else were the same.
As far as I can tell, essentially zero safe prosperous majority black neighborhoods in the USA and zero high crime areas where blacks are absent or nearly absent from living there. Biologists cannot embrace race realism because it would end their career due to political fallout
A conservative take but the one that makes the most sense to me:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/L5TS8QUJWXoIt does have a definite conservative bias to it, and it also doesn't mention the horrible racial discrimination associated with the war on drugs which I think was a double-whammy. Yet the points made in the video seem to establish fairly tight correlations between crime and unemployment figures in the black community. The spiraling downward trends seemed to start in the 60s rather than the 80s and before we start looking at Reagan's influence on it.
At least you acknowledge that. And I do agree with several points. But looking at black wealth from the 60s to now, you see observed increase at the end of Jim Crow in the 60s and the start of Affirmative Action. The a big dip in the 80s. Then a rise in the 90s.

My thinking is that there has certainly been an improvement in the opportunities available for black people whose generations managed to climb to the middle rungs of the economic ladder. There are many black people and families now in the middle and upper classes. "Black" is also a very broad category. That includes people from the West Indies, immigrants from Africa (Nigerian immigrants can even outperform white people on average the last time I checked in terms of educational attainment and median income).
Yet for whatever reason I'd like to understand better, I think American society made it near-hopeless for those at the bottom ends of the economic ladder to climb up. It also tended to confine all those most hopeless and desperate people into small areas through housing projects. Those are the neighborhoods that tend to turn most to the underground economy, are targeted most by militant police in a war-like mindset against their own citizens, and end up being covered thickly by gang graffiti. I think it's people growing up in such neighborhoods who find it almost hopeless to build a better future for themselves and their future children without potentially turning to crime.
Mix between welfare single parent house holds and bad decisions. Rap music does glorify violence as drug use as well.
I’ll read this. But I guess it’s an argument of chicken or egg. So violent people watch violent movies or are they affected by it?
www.psychiatrictimes.com/.../violence-media-what-effects-behavior
Some are yes especially on children, This is why you saw kids hurting themselves thinking they could run up a tree like they do in Naruto or using socks as swords most grow out of it but once you start a life style where you’re killed people there not going back from that, same with taking drug or theft
Exactly now girls and boys are different of course, I remember watching Jurassic park as a kids and going out I’m my backyard with cap guns and acting like I was being chased by a T-Rex or watching gun fight at the O. K carrel and other westerners and acting like a cowboy in a gun fight. Or the Panton menace and acting like I’m Anakin driving a pod racer in my dad’s car
Girls they watch a movie like mean girls and they start acting like the mean girls or brats and they start acting like those stupid brat girls. Kids especially learn from watching this is why media is so influential to kids when you get older it becomes less influential but that’s why you don’t want to show a 8 year old a movie like boys in the hood or Notorious B. I. G. They will start wanting to act like that and given an opportunity they will. If you watch a movie like Shane it shows how the little boy was influenced by Shane and not his father because Shane was around more then the boys father. Male figures are very important to boys growing up and with mothers to there daughters this is why kids really need a responsible 2 parent house hold.
Poverty doesn’t cause crime. And most blacks are anyhow Middle class.
Weird. Median white household is 130,000. Media black household: 24,000.
www.federalreserve.gov/.../...inances-20200928.htm
That guy probably has a working spouse and gets the earned income tax credit and child tax credits. He doesn’t owe federal or state income taxes. But you do know that very few people have that many kids anymore.
You’d better care about income, because almost everyone lives off our their income, not their savings.
Asians often aren’t native speakers and many came with nothing. And blacks aren’t the only people that have had it hard in the US.
White people. If we didn’t exist they wouldn’t be this way, just look at Africa. Look at how happy and clean and organized they are without living with white men
Local leadership. Which essentially boils down to the people/culture and it has a lot to do with geography as well.
It's like asking "why are inner cities, inner cities, not suburbs or country?" to some extent.
Fatherless households, in part caused by government free stuff.
Everyone wants a simple answer but the truth is it's a combination of poverty, culture, and genetics.
we all know the answer, it's just politically intolerable to say it. The scientific explanation is clear but not allowed to be articulated
Single parent households and lack of good male role models.
It is part of their DNA as evidenced by their much lower average IQs.
Poverty but there are various other factors that I don’t feel like getting into right now
Neighborhood roll models. Lack of a father in the homes. Lack of Jesus in their hearts.
Actually, it isn't.
Not really. If they were religious, If they did hold Jesus in their hearts, there would be fathers in the Families, there would be no out of wedlock Pregnancies, and there would be no crime.
Totally untrue. The majority of people in Federal Prison are Denocrats.
You really have to be kidding.
It is what is in your heart, not what is on your lips. A person with Jesus in their hearts, does not comit Arson, they do not father children out of wedlock. They do not comit robbery, or murder.
Desperation due to poverty is probably the biggest factor.
Years of racism.
