No if 1 nuke is shot off every one would lose nuking would never be the answer too any fight and I bet even Russia knows that no matter how strong they are there are plenty of other countries with nukes too I can't picture a nuke fight that would lead too a apocalypse for us all so I don't want to even think of that because it's insane.

Unlikely however their leader is no longer a rational actor and game theory dictates that in a NATO/Russia war he has the highest chances of success by launching a nuclear first strike againt NATO nuclear capabilities.

He'd lose like half of his people on the first day but be himself safe in some remote command bunker.

He found the opportunity thanks to extremely weak leader in America joe biden after the Afghanistan disaster and shut down on oil pipeline making America reliant on Russia. No. Because he doesn't want nuclear war. He wants control and to exercise his power. When he pushes the button we push the button. The point of mutually assured destruction is never having to use them.

Putin uses that idea as a fear tactic to scare off NATO but would he actually use one? Nah because it don't benefit him nor anyone else. And Putin does not come across as a guy who's recently gonna start doing stuff that don't benefit him.

While it seems unthinkable desperate people do desperate things. Putin said "if we interfered we would see consequences never before seen in history". I think he only wants us to think he will. But Putin does what's best for Putin not Russia. If we force him into a corner there's no telling what he might do.
