Former prime minister of Italy Matteo Renzi says that the current war in Ukraine was caused by West withdrawing his soldiers from Afghanistan. He states that "it showed Putin how weak West really is".

I mean, it's the Taliban who immediately launched attacks and took over Afghanistan literally DURING the withdrawal so... YES, obviously.
The Taliban were the Muhjadeen during the 1980s (back when Jihadists and Islamists were actually the GOOD GUYS, yes, there was such a time, they were backed by the Reagan Administration and fed military-grade weapons and training and even fought with American SOG, ISA and CIA Agents embedded as OGA (Other Government Agency) contractors as insurgents against the Russian Invasion of Afghanistan. Half of them then degenerated over the course of ten years after the Russians were ejected from the country and became the homegrown Afghanistan terrorist movement, Taliban. In reality, they were the new government but the Americans completely over-estimated how noble their goals and ambitions for the country were and immediately outed them from power and installed a new democratic government just as weak and ineffectual as their own. Russian weapons and equipment was supplied to them right up until sometime before 9/11. Presumably the 1998 Moscow Attacks turned Putin against funding foreign terrorists to assist in his invasions or counter-insurgencies hindering the Americans.
So... in a broad stroke, they kinda technically are Russian-made.

There are multiple causes.

The current president of Ukraine is anti-Russian, and was really put in place by US-backed forces because the old president was too pro-Russian for them. This new president then is obviously more pro-US and anti-Russian. In the East of Ukraine are areas filled with ethnic Russians who have been targeted by the anti-Russian government. They’ve been shelling Dontesk for the last 8 years. That’s one cause.

Another cause is the threat of Ukraine joining NATO.

Then of course they see Biden as a weak leader. It’s not just the fuck up in Afghanistan which caused this, they were already thinking this before he became president, making comments about him being old and senile. They’ve also commented on the weakness of the US in general. The way both they and China see it, the US is destroying itself internally.

The precipitous withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan showed Putin how weak the current American Administration is, so Putin decided to rake a chance invading the Ukraine, but I'm also concerned what China is going to do when everybody is focused on Russia and the Ukraine.
Xi may see it as the perfect time to try and take Taiwan and if this happens I can see that conflict go nuclear very fast ending with the total loss of Taiwan and China loosing around Four of its most profitable Provinces.

No one forced Putin into sending his soldiers into Ukraine. I mean, I can't even begin to tell you how much bullshit is in that idea.

Ukrainians didn't even believe Putin would do it. And even my Russian friends are freaking out. I don't know a single Russian who does not have family in Ukraine.

It's hard to say for sure. I'm guessing it was closely noted and taken into consideration by Putin when he was weighing up his options, but I don't believe it ultimately made any real difference to his final decision.

There is a lot more to it than just that. Although it did play a part in it. Putin wants to see the old Soviet Union return since he was a KGB agent. The problem with that is three of the independent states that were part of the Soviet Union are now a part of NATO. That means if he invaded those countries he would have a war against NATO. Crimea in 2014 was invaded and now Ukraine is being invaded to keep any other soviet state from becoming a part of NATO.

I don't think us being in Afghanistan would have changed his mind. It may take us longer to fight against him if we choose to send troops, but Ukraine is already lasting longer than he thought, so if we send troops the only way he can prevent us from fighting him off in Ukraine is by turning it to a sheet of glass, and I think the US is the only country with enough nukes to do that to any country.
