It’s a fairly close analogy of Big Government comes in and enforces their will on the population. Let’s say the current government had enough of Texas and invaded the state, it would be of course right for Texas to give in and not fight back….

The Ukraine is its own country, they are not obligated to listen to Russia. I don't know what game Russia is playing, we all know they're not going to be stupid enough to launch nukes because then they would just get destroyed as well. Putin is just playing on people's fears and if we really care about the Ukraine we should just straight up kick Russia out of there by force.
Not the USA though, we've been through too many wars as it is. Let's let Europe take care of its own problem for a change!
It's long past the point where it honestly matters. Also it's past the point where politics matter as well. Once a side of any given issue kills innocent people that is the only thing that matters. Because you can't justify it or reason it away. So it's way past the point where people should be talking about anything but how innocent people have been killed. Think about how you would have felt if where having this stupid political debate right after 9/11.

Putin wants to reassemble the Soviet Union. He's using NATO as a lame excuse to be an asshole. His inexcusable actions are probably going to lead to Finland (and maybe Sweden) to joining NATO now.
Except any weapons brought into Ukraine would be to shoot down incoming missiles and aircraft, not be a first strike nuclear capability. Ukraine used to have nuclear weapons (left over from the USSR).

Possibly because Finland beat Russia in 1945. They're now very interested in joining NATO to avoid unprovoked attacks, like in Ukraine. How free are you if you're only free to do what someone else wants?

Finland, Austria and Sweden were never part of Nato and Russia never invaded them in 60 years, its the United that's the dangerous military aggressor. We're the missles what the people of Italy or Turkey wanted in the early 60s? The Cuban missile crisis was instigated by America.

Russia has invaded several of its neighbours and crushed an internal rebellion. It's currently killing civilians in Ukraine. Reasons for invasions matter. "Because we won't be able to do it once they've joined NATO" is not a good reason.
