The only difference is that unlike Ukranians who would stand their ground and show pride and dignity, Canadians would either run away in fear (like Weedman would do) or willingly become Americans. They would back down.

I'm from Alberta and I would like America to pillage and annihilate Eastern Canada (everything East of Winnipeg) and annex us Westerners. Western Canada IS America anyhow.

Canada has known for a long time the US could invade them and incorporate the whole country into the US at anytime. Never really wanted to though because why screw up a good trade relationship?

If Canada were admitted to the union with just their 9 provinces comparable to existing states

that is 18 senators or 26% of the senate
62 electors or 11.5% of the electoral cottage
44 house members or 10.1 % of the house.

All of which is more than enough to control all 3 branches of the federal Government.

I am a fan of western Canada particularly Alberta which is a sister to my home state.

I have no problem admitting west Canada to the union. I am even open to Ontario and the rest of English Canada which I think would be more agreeable if they were not in a position to exploit other states.

An American political landscape would incline Canadian provinces to play more to their strengths with like-minded states.

Alberta for example is a western plains state which in the current political environment would incline it to ally with the other western plain states and the South against the crazies to the west coast and despots in the North east states.

Ontario likewise is a mid-west state which is currently the big battle ground as issues of trade and protectionism is the top issue. Mid-west states favor such policies because their natural advantage is industry.

FYI if Alberta alone were admitted to the union it would have 2 senators, 6 house reps, and 8 electors, comparable to Oregon, and dwarfing your very much more agreeable sister Montana to the south.

I get it, Trudeau is a piece of shit but I think Canada needs to have the balls to liberate themselves. I think they have the potential if they are able to get a sit-in done. Canada deserves to be it's own country.

Although if the people will it, I guess it can't hurt to have some provinces become states, it'll be one hell of a legal battle though.

I recently heard some Canadians from Alberta and Saskatchewan joke about their provinces joining the US in exchange for California, Oregon and Wahsington state.
