NSFW: Where do you draw the line on profanity?

While I am open to differing opinions, I should make it clear that these words are actually ranked in terms of offensiveness, not vulgarity.

Both crap and piss may seem more vulgar than hell and damn on paper, but in reality they're not used as offensively. Southern religious people are especially more likely to stay away from hell, damn, and the irreverence of the Holy Spirit (which even includes 'Oh My God'). This is where vulgar and offensive are different.

And of course, context matters in all swear and slang words.

I also ranked bastard below ass because it does not have any sexual or scatological intents.

I left all racial and sexual slurs out, including c*nt.

I should also add that crap and piss are rarely used beyond middle school, along with freak (as a euphemism).

Isn't fuck a sexual slur? Probably think it's different to cunt because Americans have a weird bias against that word for some reason.

And there isn't really any line for me, longs if it's just not every other word. Like ya know you've gotta use them when it makes sense.

Fuck is usually an expression. I never heard/seen anyone say/write "Oh, cunt!" or "What the cunt?"

You'll be surprised haha, Ah bet you've heard "You fuck" and "You cunt" tho. Both same contexts there and used to mean the same thing.
"Fuck is an obscene English-language word. It often refers to the act of sexual intercourse, but is also commonly used as an intensifier or to convey disdain." Therefore is still a sexual slur I would say and not really different in that regard.

In America, almost always has the word cunt been used to disparage a woman. It's much like douchebag or dickhead, but far worse. Again, context matters.

Usually, douchebag is used by a fellow man and sometimes by a woman as a result of jealousy of the dude with a 'bad boy' attitude. Also, dickhead and prick are used either in a teasing manner or in a casually angry manner. All of them can be used as slurs, but they are not always like that.

Along with cunt, I would include cum and tits into that same bubble of explicitly, always sexual words.

It can be used teasingly along with the rest so not fully negative. I think Aussies actually use it sometimes as a good thing from what I gather. That's a bit less over here. But I wouldn't be shocked by it.

Admittedly I have to say that my poll is US-centric. You won't see bloody, wanker or the Canadian slang word root on here from me either.
