Is it harder to people to be successful when they have kids in their 20s vs single people?

Many would contend that a household of children is success. I know 8 kid households. Some believe Legacy has more and a longer lasting Value than 💰, 🏡, 🛥, and 🚘.

Personally, I go with Life and Legacy over worldly Stuff.

In some cases it is. There are places that require a lot of unpaid overtime and if people are not willing to put in long hours they do not advance. People with family responsibilities often do not like to stay in the office after normal hours.
