How do you feel about Military in your country, and how do you feel about Military in general?

What is your opinion on your countries Military, and the service members? How about the concept pf the Military? How do you feel about how they are treated in your country by the government and the citizens?

The average American holds basically two positions on this: they all but worship the *idea* of the military; if you walk into a Vegan Feminist bookstore in downtown Portland that has an effigy of Trump burning on the lawn, heft the owner by her neck and bodyslam her into the counter and demand "What do you think of the troops?", she'll gasp "They're heroes" before passing out. The same is true of the deep-Southern redneck who prefers burning books to burning flags (he'll be harder to heft, though; while he probably weighs about the same as the bookstore owner, he's probably got a gun).

Their reaction to the reality is rather different, though. Look at the funding and management Walter Reed gets. Look at the reaction whenever a minor military scandal breaks. Hell, look at Colin Powell, who covered up a war crime and should have wound up in jail, but instead wound up in the Cabinet. Look at Oliver North, who should technically have wound up before a firing squad, but instead got a job as a reporter and political commentator. If you're high profile, you're fine; if not... well, better luck in the next life.

I don't share either of these attitudes, and it's very socially isolating.

It’s fairly evident that the matter of Ukraine has basically shown that one cannot rely on other countries to protect your own country. This means countries must be willing and able to defend country *by themselves*. And for that, a strong military is a necessity.

With respect to service members, they’re just doing a job they chose to do. I don’t really put any special value to them

Strong military is good , but US tries to interfere in all conflicts in world and gets in trouble
