I think my issue with firearms and any sort of distance-weaponry is that they give the weak and/or cowardly the power and/or courage to kill. The lion is always supposed to eat the zebra. The zebra never eats the lion. That’s not my rule, that’s nature’s plan. It’s not the will of nature for good to necessarily defeat evil, if we can even correctly determine objective good vs evil without allowing our own personal biases and agendas interfering. It IS the will —and the necessity— of nature for the strong to defeat the weak approximately 100% of the time. Guns very unnaturally disrupt that very natural order, and I guess that’s what offends me.
They blame the guns because if the blame the shooters, it doesn't give them an argument to take away our guns.
Yup.
They want to blame someone or some thing, so they blame a tool. Take away guns and not only do you invite more government control but people will turn to bombs instead or cars... plenty of long lines on black Friday to ram a car into a crowd. Now imagine a car full of explosives.
They'll find another way, society should stop trying to deal with the tools and get to the source of the problem, why people are getting to that point.
It's not the guns but the maniacs who have them and use them for nefarious reasons. There are probably 50 million gun owners in the US who have never used them for anything but plinking or hunting. It's the jerk offs who have no respect for life that are the problem children, along with parents who never show their kids love. or those who were tossed out because they weren't wanted.

Because it´s the most obvious reason. If a person didn´t have a gun or a rifle there wouldn´t be no shootings. I don´t think that giving teachers a gun is a good idea because that would just lead to possible shooters being even more equipped than before plus chances are that teachers miss a possible attacker and hit a student instead.
Because it is easier to blame the tool that did the killing over the people who pulled the trigger and those who failed to see the signs and taking accountability when they had the chance.
Can't do mass killings without the weapon, but that weapon still needs someone to pull the trigger who has intent. Without that, the gun cannot do shit.
I guess atrocious shooting requires, by definition, some instrument capable of releasing deadly projectiles? Hence without a gun there can't be atrocious shooting? Since using bow requires some skills and training.
The same as without alcohol, there wouldn't be car accidents caused by drunk drivers.
It's an easy strawman. It's easier to blame a weapon, and not the mental well being of the person, their upbringing and such. It's easier for the government to say, "I allow guns to be sold, so now I'll ban them".
If the government start blaming it's citizens for being immoral, irresponsible retards that they are, it would come and bite them in the ass.
Its a anti gun agenda. The Democrats are telling you it is because they fear gun owners revolting against their communist rule! In reality all shooting have a single common theme mental illness under duress! The NY subway incident they tried to hid he was mentally ill and was begging for help days before! He even called the police after!
People who believe inanimate objects have any degree of control over how they are used or what they are used for should seek professional mental health services. Short of that, no amount of logic, reason, or evidence will ever breach the propaganda walls they have constructed in their heads to shore up their resistance to common sense.
Because in an increasingly more civilized society they believe guns (specifically automatic weapons) have no real utility. Problem is this country was founded on right to bear arms. So they don't accept this protest will probably never yield any significant results.
Because we in America have fetishized firearms to an almost perverse extent. Imagine a place where guns are easier to acquire than housing and healthcare. We are that place. We have a bunch of kids playing with scissors and nobody is willing to say "Fuck it, you idiots can't have scissors anymore." Nothing is being exploited more than the 2nd Amendment.
Well, if there were no firearms, there would be no shootings. Similarly, a large number of firearms makes the probability of a fatal shooting more likely.
I blame the access to firearms. I blame how easy it is to obtain one legally and of course the people who commit the act and the people who defend them and simultaneously defend the gun regulations.
Probably because there are 2 things in common with nearly every mass shooting in the last 100 years. Guns, and men.
If the mofo doesn't have video games, it'll be the guns.
Because they do not want to blame armed Black thugs. Read the names of the perps. It won't something like Billingsley Cunningham. It will be DeShawn Jackson or something.
A large amount of mass shootings are committed by white people
@sunflower00 Tiny in comparison. Prove me wrong.
I don't think people do. Weapons are just tools. People know that people are the problem, not the tool. But fixing people is harder than just taking the dangerous tools away.
Because you can’t exercise total control over an armed population. Disarming you is the point.
Oh God here we go! “It’s not the guns to blame, it’s the people…” 😵💫
Because where there are no firearms there are no shootings. Duh.
Seriously, is water wet, fish?
Can't blame guns. They don't shoot themselves. It's the person pulling the trigger who is to blame
They can't comprehend the entire picture so they don't even try and blame the camera. The same people probably blame forks for obesity.
Firearms are very effective tools to kill people. They’re designed to kill. Without a firearm, it would be rather difficult to kill for most.
Because people are sheltered and have a fear of an inanimate object.
We’re blaming their easy access. We don’t blame cars for wrecks, but we regulate them.
We kind of *do* blame cars. I mean, look at how much effort goes into making cars safer for not only the occupants, but pedestrians and other road users as well - crash testing, seat belts, airbags, ABS, ESC, automatic collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and so on... The problem is that there's nothing you can do to make something safer if the sole reason for its existence is to kill stuff.
@MuddyMole yes, but if guns had a fraction of the regulations driving has we’d be much better off. For one a national registry (oop I said it aloud…)
It's not the gun it's the people
Because they are stupid.
