It’s the fact it is a political issue that prevents any movement on any sensible conversation on anything gun related in the US.
It is a corrupt society, replete with broken homes, violence, crime, drugs, gangs, with no regard for life.
It is foolish to harp over and over about the tool used to kill while never once looking at the REAL problem... how much evil, f**ked up, lost, people our societies are producing in more and more and more numbers.
Guns have been around for CENTURIES... these insane shootings where people just start killing complete strangers for no reason... utter evil insanity... that's fairly new. Just the last few decades.

Areas where guns are banned tend to have more shootings and/or stabbings. People who want to hurt people will find a way. There's a saying for that, "Where there's a will, there's a way." Guns, cars, bombs, knives, fires, etc. Like the guy who tabbed 40 people in a train station in China. Are we supposed to ban and restrict any and all objects that can hurt people? That's not dealing with the real issues. The real fix would be taking care of people before they get to that point and changing how the media handles events so as not to make shooters look cool and idolized. No one wants to have that conversation though. Funny... Until then, stop putting a bandaid on a cut artery.

I don't think the issue is as black and white as most politicians make it. Most of the people who go on these mass shooting sprees have a long history of violent behavior or making violent threats. They face no consequences and as soon as they're legal they can go and buy a firearm or they steal it from a friend or family member. We need to be able to put at-risk people on some kind of list that bans access for them to legally acquire firearms. We also need to make the charges more heavy for parents and others who get their firearms stolen in order to be used in these mass shootings. That should encourage more people to be careful and properly secure their firearms so others can't access them. I don't think banning at-risk people from acquiring firearms is a huge infringement of guns rights. Responsible and well-adjusted gun owners would have nothing to worry about. People always say that if you ban these guys from getting access to guns legally then they'll be able to get them illegally. Do you know how to get an illegal firearm? You need connections for something like that which I doubt most of these lone wolf killers have access to. I think these are common sense places to start.
I don't think the solution is to ban firearms. I also don't think the issue is to add more firearms into the mix.
It’s lack of responsibility that people kids are getting killed primarily the failure of government like usual. The guy who shot up the 4th of July parade was on the FBI watch list very clearly mentally ill he shot a music video with a jokers laugh which was set in a school shooting situation. But they didn’t do anything about it. Just like Uvaldi just like the white supremest that shot up Buffalo just like the parkland shooting. It is a direct failure of government. If a normal employee was as irresponsible as a government is constantly they would have been fired or arrested for criminal negligence. These shooting are a direct result of bad government as normal.
What was the bill how much spending was there and how much pork was there? I looked into one of the more recent boats about getting veterans healthcare against nuclear radiation and there was about $4.7 billion on climate change issues that had nothing to do with veterans.
I will say when it comes to pork barrel bills both sides had a Tennessee to put something in the bill that has nothing to do with what the bill is actually about. This is why we need bills that are about single issues without anything else clouding them up.
They will have a bill that would cut taxes for and republicans would put in a ban on abortion or democratic will put in there that will require states to pay for transgender surgery. Exactly Pork barrels aren’t good for bipartisanship legislation to pass. Both sides need to be more honest about what they want to get passed. Example I would love marijuana to be legal. Democrats are more likely to present a bill to legalize marijuana. Republicans are mostly on board with it, even Clarance Thomas the most conservatives judge on SCOTUS agree that weed should be legal. The issue is democratic would put a bunch of crap about climate change to the bill or abortion crap or trans crap rather then just saying marijuana is now legal. I’m sure if they said for people over 21 you would get most republicans on board with it. Even I’m Florida they have legal medical marijuana. If democratic kept the bill to legalize weed the bill would pass with 92% approval. But since democrats would add a bunch of crap that has nothing to do with legal weed it won’t pass.

Funnily enough, it IS in fact the fault of the person pulling the trigger. There is no "our" in that statement, nor are gun manufacturers blaming you for it. The person doing the killing is responsible for the killing. Well, no duh. There is no collective blame for any single person's actions. That includes a collective blame on "assault rifles". Guns don't shoot themselves anymore than semi-trucks drive themselves over crowds of people or airplanes crash themselves into skyscrapers.
We only regulate cars if you get on public roads and share them with other drivers. If you never get on a public road, you don't need to register your car, insure it, or have a driver license.
You need a BATFE background check when you buy the gun. What else do you want? Guns are more regulated than cars are. There is no background check to buy a car. If you buy a car from a 3rd party there isn't any oversight at all. A person selling their own car is not required to check ID from their buyer. They aren't required to have the other party register or tax the car either. No one complains about "assault vehicles", regardless of the vehicles make up, accessorizing, or intent. You can even buy surplus military vehicles.

Why does shooting only happen in cities and suburbs? Because people who live in rural areas learned about them very young. Guns aren't taboo there or even a big deal

Definitely personal responsibility. You could trust some persons with a thousands of weapons and they wouldn't hurt a fly while you can't trust some people with a knife (or even less). Some people will never kill someone despite having tons of guns while some people kill others without any tools.
I don't know, if I buy a gun, my first thoughts are not about killing people, mass shooting or stuff like that. The worst that comes to my mind is self defense but, even then, that would not be my primary reason to buy a gun.
Also, about the assault weapon ban, if you know about guns, you know how useless it is (see AR-15 vs Mini-14 where they essentially have the same capabilities but one is an "assault weapon", which means absolutely nothing in technical terms, and the other is not)
400 million guns in the US aren't used to shoot anyone at all, and the majority of those that are, are in self-defense. If the mere existence of those guns was the problem, don't you think the "problem" would be a hell of a lot bigger than it is right now?
The gun population has increased by tens and hundreds of millions, while shootings with AR-15's have gone up by... single digits. You could pick almost any random object and find out that more people are killed by those than AR-15s every year, but you won't.
