A lot of scam artists and thieves come here too. Around here there has been a gang of South Americans who come up on tourist visas, commit burglaries for a few weeks, then go home to be replaced by others.
Also, the cost of housing, both rent and purchases, has skyrocketed the last few years in most of the country. Adding more people makes that problem MUCH worse, something that doesn't seem to occur to the idiots running California.

False association. Gun laws wouldn't work because criminals would disregard them and leave those who obey the laws at a disadvantage. Stricter immigration laws would allow the removal of those who ignore the laws, as opposed to now where anyone who isn't a known felon can show up at the border and be released into the country pending "hearings" that likely never occur.

In average this seems to be true. The term ''immigrant'' should not only be seen from a stereotypical ''American'' view. Each country has its own typical immigrant group. What they have in common is that local (original) population some kind of looks down on them, grabs the 'better' jobs for themselves, and leave the ''shitty'' (or unwanted, or hard) work to the ''immigrants''. Of course, there are also ''career immigrants'' who import the energy that most locals are too sluggish to come up with.

No. For one it's not right to hire illegal immigrants who are using fake social security numbers to work. Or worse using a legal citizens ssn leaving them to deal with identity theft. 2nd it's also not right to use them because they will work for lesser pay.
The jobs we have should only be given to legal citizens including the immigrants that came here legally.
I'm sure they might. It depends on a person's work ethic. But I wouldn't say they would work harder than me because I give 100% when I work.
When people are standing around talking during slow times I always make sure I'm doing something for the time I'm being paid for. But in general I do notice most of my co-workers including managers slack off.
With that said it doesn't mean illegal immigrants don't get too comfortable and slack off eventually too. I have known a family of illegal immigrants which is why I'm aware of them stealing ssn to work and get drivers licenses. The father had good work ethic but his son was a slacker just like American kids can be.

Sense the beginning of America immigrants have busted their asses! In particular Hispanics go to extreme risks to come back to their land that was stolen from them to work the jobs no one else will do for much less than fair wages and working conditions and living in fear of deportation.
This is a stereotype and it is irrelevant. Any nation should have a say and control how many immigrants are excepted in. The numbers coming into the U. S. are at psychotic levels. We should be taking in about 50,000 a year... but we are taking in millions. Hard work? That is moot to the overall issue.
If you bring in immigrants you devalue labor. We shouldn't be paying people such small amounts of money for such laborious and physically draining labor. The best thing we can do for the economy is hold the oligarchs accountable and start massively overhauling the labor system.
That is just the worst aspect in my opinion. I think a country will cease to be a country if there is open borders however. We have to maintain at least a good percentage of a native population that has been here for a few generations or our culture will vanish. Having a culture that values free speech for instance ensures it survives to the next generation.
I don’t see the point of differentiating native to immigrant, when the difference is time. Only decades ago “natives” were immigrants.
But I only said open borders as an economic policy. I do see security issues important too. But I’m just trying to point out how effective immigration is at boosting economies.
If you do not have a society with some homogeney then it will fall apart. There's a reason why you have to swear certain oath to become a citizen, you have to assimilate to a degree.

Really? I’ve know several people who immigrated legally from South and Central America. They are not rich people by any means. Yet somehow they managed to do legally what millions of people don’t.
