Are fat women less likely to be in harm’s way?

I’m 25 and have been obese since 18. I’m considering living in a van and my dad was concerned for safety as a “woman”. I have walked in the dark by myself, walked through parking lots and have passed groups of men. I’ve never felt unsafe because men don’t mess with me likely because I’m physically unattractive. I’ve never had a man mess with me, approach me, catcall me, etc. I think being fat puts a blubber blanket of protection on me to make me invisible to men and trouble makers.
