Can the word 'damn' be considered a swear word? If yes, why?

it is a swear word yes, because it is an expletive... and as an expletive it is usually to curse or swear and convey a negative feeling

and then, it is all about context... context always matters and it might not be a big deal to say anyway, or it could just be impolite and out of place

I would not recommend using it in front of a judge that is about to dictate you a sentence

Yes, it is a curse word. Curse words are either:

1. Biblical swears
2. Body parts/anatomy
3. Or bodily fluids/verbs.

Damn is in the first category and it basically means to tell God to go f*ck Himself.

Every person has a different list of offensive words. For me, none of Carlin's "seven words you can't say on the air" are offensive. In the US, we don't generally use the c-word. In Australia it's as common as the f-word.

GD , Damn , and Hell are cursing. The others are slang and maybe not nice.
