Have you ever gotten sued?

Question

I just got a lawyer's letter, from a civil protection officer, because last month during the floods - I complained they did nothing.
More specifically, this person is suing me because when they finally showed up to survey the damage, I gave them a carp (the fish) and told them I fished it from the flooded area and that when I'll fish out the body of the man who drowned there, I'll give that to them as well.
It was a protest, but now I'm getting sued for "intimidation".

Lots of times sued and been sued. Its not a criminal complaint so its for damages. I don't know what they are going to claim are the damages? Id contact a lawyer but probably nothing. In small claims court where i live you just sit down with the judge and explain the case in like 1 minute and then he rules. The thing to remember is the specific statutes of the law. Look up intimidation or whatever it is and whats allowed as defenses. It may say if your excuses is " a joke" is not a defense. Just hypothetically and then if you go in and claim its a joke you will lose automatically. So you need to know both what is their burden of proof and what defense you are allowed to provide. Then try and come up with evidence against their burder of proof or a solid defense.

I had a neighbor sue me for damage to his foundation he claimed was due to some construction I was having done on my house. Had an expert witness who inspects and repairs foundations for a living testify that there was no way what I did caused the damage and that the damage looked to him to be from well before I bought my house. Judge tossed it out.

Four times last year. Every one of them was thrown out. Never been sued before. Always heavily document everything. When times are tight people like to attempt to sue for anything and everything.

Yes, twice. Most recently last year, a really bizarre one. They didn’t go anywhere; they were dismissed after furnishing documentation.

I got into a car accident. Somebody tried to pass me on the right as I was making a righthand turn. I thought it was strange that she was flagging down passing cars to see if they would be witnesses and ten minutes later her boyfriend showed up. How did he know where she was because cell phones were not wide lt used and I checked her car and there was no cell phone in it.
A couple of months later I find out she is suing me. I wanted to take it to court but the insurance company just wanted to settle.

I haven't, but you should certainly get legal advice. They will probably advise you to counter sue, because from first impressions you have a cast iron case..

To ''sue'' someone is cowardice in my eyes.
Whoever had a disagreement with me, never ''dared'' to embarrass himself further by trying this cheap way.
Note: I only ''start a fight'' when I'm in the right - and the other side knows it :D

Nah, being perceived as utterly broke most of the time (my bank balance agrees but my floorboard portfolio says otherwise) tends to prevent that
