Trending & News One thing I don’t engage in is “criminal schadenfreude.” I don’t really think it’s naturally correct for any human or group of human’s to revoke any other human’s freedom, no matter how much I may disagree their actions, no matter how much safer or more orderly it makes life for everyone else. Freedom, to me, is an inalienable right that cannot ever be at stake for any reason whatsoever. I’d sooner see someone executed than incarcerated, honestly. I’ve just always found it very petty, immature, and, frankly, weird how so many people take pleasure in the tragedy of someone else losing their freedom. Being vindictive to that level is just weird to me, period. Like that whole “have fun rotting in jail, asshole!” or “don’t drop the soap, buddy!”…. that’s so cringey and so douchey. I don’t know, I just don’t like incarceration, conceptually.
Honestly, in the case of the January 6th crowd, I just view them as dummies who were duped by a con man. These guys all drank the Kool Aid and went back for a free refill. Would I like a lot of them individually? Maybe not, I don’t know. I try to separate real life Trump people from internet Trump people lmao, the real life ones are usually more polite, on the Internet, they can be colossal dickheads. I play hockey with a dude who’s a big Trump guy, he wears #45 in his honor, all that, but he’s always been cool with me, I consider him a friend, or at least a friendly acquaintance. I bet some of these rednecks and I would get along famously if we were bass fishing, and we might fistfight if we talked politics. People have layers, and most of them won’t have layers that exclusively jive with your own principles. We can either focus on our similarities and find friendship there, or we can focus on differences and find an enemy. It’s our choice to make, really.
So anyway, as much as I’m not a fan of Trump, as foolish as I think it is to believe the election was stolen, I want to believe a lot of the people who showed up have some good qualities in addition to the ones I might find questionable that either led them to or didn’t sway them away from supporting Trump. I’d like to think that about the majority of people who are deemed criminals. Most people aren’t all bad, they have some redeeming quality or two at least. There are very few offenses one can commit that should ever warrant expulsion from being in public, to me, and in those cases, those people we can probably just get old school with and just kill them lmao. These people fervently supported a politician who I’d argue is a snake oil salesman, in some measure, anyway. Or to remove a little personal bias, I think it’s fair to say that, whether you think he speaks fact or fiction, he’s very compelling to his audience. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a rabid fan base for a politician in my lifetime. It’s very “you either love him or hate him.” Those who love him are ride or die. So to someone like me, who thinks Trump is full of shit, I think these people did something dumb, but it was out of foolish loyalty. Between Trump and the right wing media, it’s no wonder they’re angry. If the things they claimed were going on were really going on or really going on for the reasons they say they are, I might be pissed too, I just happen to know better, lmao. But I don’t want to see anyone go to jail, and certainly not be harmed while they’re in there.
There is videoed proof that MANY who participated, had NO compunction in physically abusing those charged with maintaining order, in the belief that they'd be ABLE to do so... undetected.
You need look no further than Mira Lago---
Did video NOT record #45 saying to his assembled faithful that he'd see &
meet them there at the Capital Bldg? Yet, where was his ass?
Physically safe & warm--- >:(

You guys are really just so willing to throw out morals, ethics, other peoples human rights and basic human decency at the drop of a hat to justify the level of hate you have for people you’ve never even met. There hasn’t even been any news about that in months. I truly feel sorry for you and I hope you can learn to heal and forgive.
No. That would just make them martyrs and honestly it does not solve anything. The win condition in a culture war like this is having them be shunned and reformed.
What riot? Do you mean people entering the Capitol building after the Capitol police invited them in and the the people calmly walking, staying between the ropes, and taking photos before leaving? Or, are you referring to the FBI and other government agitators that managed to get a couple dozen people to act in a manner they normally would not have?
Wouldn't that be cruel and unusual punishment and therefore unconstitutional? Oh I forgot, the Supreme Court threw out the constitution.

Obviously not, seeing as their actions on 6 January were 100% justified.
I'm just disappointed that they didn't burn that disgusting building down and gun down everybody trying to escape.
I don;t think any of these people will see the light of day until Trump becomes president again.
I wouldn't be opposed to it. But I'd prefer for them to go through Rehabilitation and hopefully stop being bigoted idiots.
No, that would be terrible.
How can this question be real?
I don’t think people should die in prison
I wouldn’t wish anyone to get shanked.
That's racist
