As a liberal-leaning individual, it would be way too easy to jump on this to score political points. Yes, both Bush and Putin have, similarly, made use of foreign policies and militaries for the purpose of deflection, political gains, etc. However, this is representative of individuals in great power, as a whole, and is NOT simply representative of one political party or another. Think of this through a Machiavellian mindset where the goals are to attain and maintain power by any means necessary (ends justify the means). Although you are correct to more objectively point out examples of this by Putin and by Bush, know that any/all of us are capable of such things. For example, there was great concern that Trump was going to make use of the military to initiate foreign conflicts as a means of deflection and remaining in power. We are fortunate that this did not come to fruition as it has with both Putin and with Bush. It's important to be aware of such concepts in order to be critical thinkers able to defend our democracy and ideals whenever this occurs regardless of the political party or entity involved.

Its hard not score points when you are dealing with people who have an incredibly short memory span and will proclaim America and Capitalism to be as innocent as a baby and as perfect as an angel and is the best invention that god created. And they will not listen to the voice of reason and actually advocate for their own oppression and the oppression of others and force them to live under capitalism and suffer as they do as well. America is not what it used to be and its tenets of all men and women are created equal and freedom of speech is being destroyed. We are not a democracy and we are increasingly becoming a police state. America has been hijacked by greed and corporations a long time ago

I agree with many of your points. With respect to the U. S., most culture wars are initiated or stoked by the rich and powerful to get us to fight amongst ourselves over crumbs using each other as scapegoats rather than to take long, hard looks at the true underlying issues. This said, what are we doing about it? It is easy to lay blame but harder to come up with solutions.

@Just4ThisNow2 the answer is simple but many Americans will find it a hard pill to swallow because it undoes all their beliefs they have been programed with. We have to dismantle capitalism and resign all judges and politicians from seats of power and cut off the rot and cancer while we still have a chance. In its stead a more human and efficient system will be put in place such as Communism or any other Resource Based economic system that will not clash with the finite resources of our planet and force us to live responsibly within our means instead of wastefully throwing away products or designing them to fail in the name of profit. If that is too radical of a change for Americans we can use Socialism as a stepping stone to transition to a non monetary resource based economic system. Besides with the ever increasing advancements in automation ALL jobs will eventually be taken over by automation and everyone will be out of the job so we will have to change our economic system whether we like it or not it is inevitable. The only difference is how abrupt and violent the change will be to society and the cost of life that will be suffered to make that transition. But yes you are 100% correct in your observation that the culture war and all these reactionary politics on all media platforms are initiated on purpose by those in power namely the capitalist to divide the people. As the old American quote says “United We Stand Divided We Fall”...

I appreciate hearing your perspectives. You bring up several important points, although I do not agree with all of them. First off, the answer is NOT simple. Critical thinking and a greater understanding of involved factors is critical in order to make constructive changes to systems already in place. Extreme measures based upon radically different political/economic beliefs is short-sighted, unfeasible, and likely not the best solution.

Communism isn't a thing. It's a Utopian concept that sounds great in theory but is impractical unlikely capable of governing more than a very small community outside of very specific circumstances for any significant lengths of time. Although countries and states may profess to being “Communist,” we've yet to see a single instance of this to date. Instead, they have all represented totalitarian dictatorships.

This said, we've never seen a purely capitalist society, either. This is with great reason. In the U. S., we have a capitalist socialist society, although likely with a greater degree of capitalism than socialism.

Back to your points, you've pointed out actual flaws in our society that are worthy of constructive changes. This is important. However, a rush to assume that another politicoeconomic system will solve these issues without substantial drawbacks of their own seems myopic, unwise, and potentially counterproductive. The real issue lies with who has the power and control in a society. Moving this power from one master (corporations) to another (dictators or oligarchies in the name of the “people”) does not solve the inequalities and imbalances in power that need to be addressed in the first place.

Thus, I challenge you to look for practical, comprehensive solutions that address these challenges in meaningful ways that we can get behind.

I like you friend you seem like a very logical and reasonable person willing to engage in honest discourse. But i must warn you that a lot of counter arguments against Communism (Which you correctly stated we have yet to see a single Communist country in history) are based on capitalistic propaganda and at best might have been true in 1840-1900 hundreds before the advent of computers and the internet aka the information age so the logistics of communism would have been extremely difficult back in that era. But If you just look at any giant retail business like Walmart or even an E-store like Amazon you will know that is very well possible and realistic to coordinate and deliver goods on a mass scale easily, efficiently, and quickly.

To be honest i am not just advocating for Socialism or Communism i am advocating for any system that is human and resource focused. I could care less about the name i only care about how efficient and practical it is. Everything can be solved with technology and automation and human ingenuity.

But yes as you said its not going to be easy to transition to such a system. It was easy to give you the answer but implementing it will prove to be much much more difficult. It won't be solved by one man or women we have to put our brightest minds to the challenge because i honestly would hate for it come to an unguided revolution to bring down the system in place. It will be very bloody and many people will lose their lives because those in power will never give it up willingly unfortunately...
