Was Zbigniew Brzeziński a good national security adviser?

I read his book The Great Chessboard. It's a very interesting book that explains what the USA must do to keep its world domination, what are the major geopolitical players and what are the developments in the world.

However I found some confusing in this book as its way of expressing itself. he almost considers that the USA has a messianic mission, that ultimately American domination serves the interests of humanity. Thus, in this implacable logic, to challenge America would be to act against "the fundamental interests of humanity".

he also says that the USA also have vassals (in particular the European countries), that there are “Barbarian” countries.

I found this language somewhat surprising from a man who has played such a big role in American politics.
