We don’t need to do anything ridiculous like “banning all guns” like a bunch of uneducated foreigners and liberals suggest because that’s not going to solve anything.

It might work in Australia but it hasn’t been working in the parts of the US that have already tried doing so (Chicago, Detroit, NYC, Stockton, Reno)

But what I’ve been noticing is that a lot of the time with these shooters they have a lengthy history of showing troubling signs that should’ve been concerning to other people.

But they almost never seem to have gotten the help they needed.

My point being schools suck at providing resources and they clearly aren’t being proactive enough.

Because with these people their actions just keep getting swept under the rug constantly until they finally lash out and another shooting happens.

It’s just so frustrating to me because there’s things we could be doing but instead Democrats won’t settle for anything besides banning all guns.

Anyway reason I mention this is because I think a huge part of the problem is that in society we tend to be selfish and only think about ourselves.

We never stop to think about other people who are struggling and get them the help they need. We feel no obligation to do so but of course this is why school shootings happen.

But aside from that point I can’t wrap my head around why teenagers are legally allowed to buy guns.

I mean its a well known fact that teenagers suffer from depression at an insanely high rate compared to other age groups. Nevermind the fact our brains are still developing.

So I guess another big part of the problem is the ease of access.

Virtually anybody can buy a gun.

There are virtually no background checks. Criminals can legally purchase.

And while its true that practically all these shooters had no known mental health issues, they so clearly could’ve benefitted from mental health services.

And so why don’t we just raise the minimum age of purchase to 21? Seeing I can’t drink until I’m 21.

"We don’t need to do anything ridiculous like “banning all guns” WFT, if you were to ban guns from all states, then this would reduce the amount of guns and the ability to get hold of guns and amination. this is only a problem in the US not any other country in the world. and yet people like you still keep bleating on about its not the guns and dont change the law to prevent people from buying them. please wake up and smell the roses.

as a none US person i do not get this whole its part of the constitution shit. this is the year 2022 and not 18? what ever where it was needed to arm yourself due to the infrastructure of the law enforcement and lack of rule. in todays society we do not need this and this is why you have these atrocities.

its a fact that you have so many shootings in the US that they dont even make the news. here in the UK, if we have one person shot, its headline news and reported, due to the unusual nature of the crime. but like i said so many in the US that they dont even report them

there have been 27 school shooting this year alone so far. this is a staggering statistic and one that you can not hide behind a constitution and say that its my right to carry arms. these kids didn't have that right, yet the mad man that killed them did so on innocent people.

i get that mental health has a part to play, but removing the guns would prevent or make it harder for them to do these things

If banning guns doesn't work then why hasn't Australia had one mass shooting since they banned guns 25 years ago? Why has England only had two mass shootings in the past 12 years compared to 25 mass shootings in the US in the past 10 years? They've both proven bans/strict gun control work on a country wide level, not on a state or city level.

You want to BS your way around every deflection and diversion to avoid the simple fact that every modern, industrialized country with strict gun control has far fewer gun homicides, and virtually no mass/school shootings.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

Help them with their mental health and make it so only healthy people can get guns.

The problem is not guns themselves but that someone that unstable can get it.

Also, I think they often attack schools because that's the one institution in which they know there won't be anyone with a gun of their own to defend themselves.

I'm sick of our rights being taken away for our supposed "safety". We never get them back and it always serves the politician the most... it's almost as if they created the problems themselves in the first place.

I think the best would be to get free mental health and not mock or shame people when they get to therapy.
Also stopping bullying and stopping treating shy / introvert people as if they have some kind of disease.

the real answer is to stop journalists from saying the names of shooters and showing them on TV. mass shootings are caused by the media contagion effect. fame seeking lonely people glorify the attention shooters get and thus do copycat crimes.
