How were counterculture people so happy and confident if the world was against them? Do you consider it to be self destructive to be counterculture?

Basically im referring to 60s counterculture people or later that were considered taboo or the things they did were considered wrong by the majority. I am wondering how can these people be so happy and how can it not be considered self destructive

I like to be rebellious, ever since I became teenager, but in recent years I've gotten more careful I am careful in how I am rebellious so I dont be self destructive and I am counter culture in smart creative impactful ways and how can all those ocunter culture people be happy and confident how can they not feel like the worlds against them

and i am refering to a small culture of people prevailing against the social norms of the time like the hippies in the 60s or the punks and emos of the 70s and 80s they started as a counter culture and became a Mainstream Subculture in the later youth cultures.

I mean many of the ideas of what one should and shouldn't do are arbitrary and fueled by superstition and ignorance. So i think acting against those ideas doesn't by default mean something bad.

Yeah I know, the system decides what is wrong or right but sometimes the system can get it wrong and brave counterculture or rebellious subcutlure contemporaries can change it or try to change it, but that doesn't stop them from being dehumanized.

Well it's evolution in the true sense of the concept. Evolution has no plan. It fires everything and those things that aren't successful just die out. That's what i think will happen to lgbtq, simply cause those people don't procreate.

no. i'm saying that the nature of rebellion of the youngert generation is like evolution and that more successfull behaviorisms than the established systems will stick around, while those that are less successfull will die off.

hippies, punks, emos, hiphops in the 70s/80s, metalheads in the 70s and 80s, skinheads, Black panthers, feminists in the 70s and 80s and 90s, LGBT Groups, mod, Drug Users and Advocates

I see -- mostly people who just wanted to be allowed to live their lives. They were happy because they felt like they didn't have to hide any more.
