I sort of hate the use of the word Assault Rifle, it’s mainly down to social media, lazy journalism, video games and movies.
while serving, I don’t thing anyone ever referred to rifles as Assault rifles, it’s was always personal or it’s given name such as SA-80.
it is legal to buy an AR-15 in the UK

ignore some of the article, however it points out how we actually own semi auto versions of the rifle here and single shot versions.

they really need to stop referring to weapons as Assault Rifles etc when looking to add in controls, it’s really down to calibre and type of fire, fully auto, semi or manual and if it’s a rifle, shotgun, pistol etc.
saves a ton of pointless confusion and means those who target shoot can actually own various weapons.

For those of you who failed primary school language arts, ‘assault’ is a verb and an object is a noun. There is no such thing as an ‘assault rifle’ no matter how much brainwashing the modern era Goebbels organizations provide otherwise. A rifle can be used in the act of committing an assault, but even then it is not an assault rifle it is a tool being used for assault. When are we going to talk about or have campaigns against all the leftist propaganda bullying going on in schools or society?
No , the M-14 is not an assault rifle. By definition, an assault rifle is select fire, fed by detachable magazine, and intermediate caliber. Many M-14 rifles have been converted to semi-auto only and even the ones that still have the full-auto mode still available don’t meet the intermediate caliber qualification. For record, an AR-15 (which stands for Armalite rifle) is not an assault rifle either. The M-16 is.

Nope, just a battle rifle same as the gewehr 43.
Pinkos will incorrectly call it an “assault rifle” because any type of rifle or carbine is an “assault rifle” to them. These are the same idiots that refer to tactical pens as “assault pens”.
fun fact: the term “assault rifle” was coined by Adolf Hitler. He referred to the MP43/STG44 as a “Sturm gewehr” which roughly translates to “storm” or “assault” rifle.- u
I am not a firearms afficionado so I don't recognize the weapon. I do know that whether a rifle is classified as an "assault rifle" is not based on how mean or ferocious it looks, and that the left applies the "assault rifle" label far too often.
Any rifle is an assault rifle if it is used to assault people.
But the term has been twisted by gun-control propagandists.
The term used to apply to military weapons that were capable of selective fire, which means that they could be fired in semi-auto mode or switched to full auto. Some had three shot burst capability, as well.
Some rocket scientist invented the undefined term "military-style assault rifle" which basically tried to define any rifle that "looked" military as a military-"style" assault rifle. So now, the term doesn't apply to machine guns but to guns that have certain cosmetic features.
The undefinable term "military-style assault rifle" has been conveniently abbreviated to "assault rifle", which is a misnomer. And since the term military-style assault rifle is undefinable, the gun-control propagandists invent new definitions that include flash suppressors, barrel shrouds, ergonomic features like hand grips, and detachable magazines.
So to some, the rifle in the photo would be an assault weapon because it has a detachable magazine. But to some, the wooden stock disqualifies it. If the owner put a modern composite stock with a pistol grip on it, morons would call it an assault rifle.
But the fact is, it's just a semiautomatic rifle. A very good one, too.The M-14 was in use before the M-16 came into service. It meets the definition of an assault rifle. - Semi- auto Military style rifle with the ability to use high capacity magazines.
Is that a m14 or a m1 nice either way i consider what you have there as a piece of history any rifle could be assult rifle if thats what your doing with it and it won't be long they will lump all rifles as assult rifles
By legal definition, no, because it doesn't have that super special pistol grip that makes it so much more deadly. Put a donkey dick on it and whoa, that there's some killing weapon... lol
It is a Springfield M1A semi-automatic hunting rifle. It is one of the most accurate rifles that is out there. It is also used in shooting competitions. This rifle was also used in Vietnam. It was called an M14 that fired 7.62 m by 51. The m1 was the first semi-automatic rifle used during world war 2 which fired a 30-06 round. During the Korean war the upgraded it to the M14.
The answer to your question is yes it is an assault rifle.Yes, unless it’s a bolt action, lever action or pump action, it’s an assault rifle and should be banned.
It meats my definition. Rifle caliber, semi auto, large magazine, military use. That being said I don't mind them or think they should be banned. I just think we need more thorough background checks and to close off loopholes.
It looks like a single shot rifle so no it is not an assault rifle
I don't think it look more like a hunter one but I'm not a pro at it so
Looks like it fits the definition.
No such thing as an "assault rifle" or an "assault weapon". ALL guns can be used to assault or kill people, or to save lives.
And many household items can be used as weapons, but we don't want any of them to be banned from use.Ant weapon, not only firearms, can be used as "an assault weapon!!!
Unless you're sodomizing yourself with the butt, the only purpose of a rifle is to assault, dumbass.
Looks like a shooting range practice
