Do you have good friends, who have different political views than you?

I thought I did, but then trump came along. In early 2017 I asked one what it would take to get her to stop trusting him. She immediately stopped talking to me. Then when another mourned the death of Limbaugh as someone who was always kind and I pointed out he made a weekly thing of reading off the names of gay people who died of aids to triumphant music, he stopped talking to me. The rest were mostly during the 2020 election. One I bluntly asked him if he would commit to stop being a Republican if the party ever engaged in political violence. He refused and when I tried to explain why that was a problem he stopped talking to me. Another might have been more my fault as I got into a somewhat heated discussion with his brother. I regret nothing I said but it is also the case that I wasn't saying it to someone who I should expect was used to the way i talk. Basically, he tried to say he would defend me when the libs tried to engage in armed insurrection and I thus promptly offered to defend him when the russians invaded "even as your dumb ass sprints to greet them as allies." There are other examples of friends I was less close with, but they aren't as interesting.

I will say the common factor in all of these is social media. Once one has decided to be an asshat it's easier to word it in such a way that the asshatery is to its full potency if there is a delete key.

No. The democrat friends I have had ended up being bad people, treat their friends badly, cheat on their wife, abandon their kids, do drugs, and are irresponsible.

Yes, in the UK that would be a given, It is seen as rude to ask someone their political point of view, we see it as only the concern of the person and the ballot box, that is why the political parties in the UK are surprised by the results of some elections, take Brexit as an example, all of the parties in the UK with the exception of the Conservatives though at the Brexit vote would be to remain in the EU, when the result to leave was announced it caught 3 political parties and all of the Main Stream Media totally off guard as ALL of the opinion polls said it would be a vote to remain.

Dont know do that count? Like taiwanese, They take me as up-leveler from mainland, china. They always dig me and want to close to me but if I had gone they dont have any words to say among them and dont have any activies. If I appears then the phenomenon appear again.

I used to but my best friend that I had known for over 20 years stopped talking to me because I didn’t think Donald Trump was worse than Hitler.

Fortunately, I do have such friends and despite our political differences I find them to be good people. I don't have to agree with someone politically in order to like them and respect them.
