Would you be friends with someone who shares opposite political views?

She's Mexican-American, you're white. She posts on Facebook that she hates Trump, loves Bernie Sanders, talks about injustice towards immigrants at the border, etc. She absolutely hates Trump. Meanwhile, you're from a conservative, Republican white household and loves Trump. You posts on Facebook about all the good that he's done.

I wouldn't end a friendship over political disagreement. However, my philosophy with having such a friend is that I will be the first to bring up politics in his/her presence, but if he/she brings up politics in my presence, I will defend my political beliefs until one of us admits defeat. So from there, they have 3 options:
1. Remain friends and stop talking about politics.
2. Remain friends and continue to talk about politics, but know and accept that I will push back every time.
3. End the friendship.

The choice is theirs.

I would not become NEW friends with someone with opposing political views, but I stayed friends with a couple that I was friends with way before Trump ever ran for office. I have however lost respect for them when they don't even know what policies he has and they support candidates without knowing even one policy they want. When they support someone purely based on their race or gender I know that person is stupid.
I'd rather be around Hispanic girls that are conservative because those ones are cool. :)

Doesn't matter whose sitting in the white house, just like every other leader in the world, they'd sell the people down the river to cover their own arses. In life you're a social security number, paying taxes towards greedy wealthy people. Distrust all they don't have your good intentions to heart

But what if these ideologies affect people? For example, favorite tv shows or ice cream flavors are okay to disagree about. But what about immigration, wages, welfare, war, etc? These things actually affect people. They're not minor things that you can just put aside.

Well im conservative and I don't know how i could respect someone who thinks i need all my money and property confiscated and given to everyone except me, including illegals, drug addicts, slutty single moms who can't keep their legs closed, and payoffs to overpaid gov contract deals to already rich people. I am friends with people who disagree with me politically, religiously, socially in some aspects but we get on fine. It's fun to debate those topics and explore the different points of view

Their political views don't determine whether or not they're a good person. And they don't have control over everything that goes on in the world, they can only see what's going on in the world and interpret it in their own way. Not being friends with some because they don't like someone in power is pointless.
