I saw an essay, purportedly by Putin himself, about how the historical unity between the three countries (Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine) meant they were, essentially, one country. That's as close as I've seen to an explanation for the war. Imagine, if you will, Borus Johnson writing an essay about the historical union between the UK and Ireland, and using that as a pretext to invade THEM.

It makes me wonder if there isn't some real reason out there that those of us here in the West aren't being allowei to know about; if Russia's constantly trying to explain itsely, but word's not getting through. I seriously doubt it, but how would I know?

With the number of war crimes committed by Russian troops in Ukraine, this will never be healed, there may be peace but families are split over it.

Even some of the separatists are having 2nd thoughts, as it’s their cities being bombed and destroyed.

You are right, even if the war ended now, the hatred will not stop in the near future. There are so many people in Russia against the war, who feel like hostages in their own country. Labelled as traitors for their opinions.

McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Starbucks and Heineken have halted sales in Russia. And some states in the US have banned Russian vodka and other Russian products.

So I heard that many more big companies have completely pulled out of Russia. I have even heard people dropping russians out of their dating standards.

Not just in America but all over the hatred towards government actions is anger that civilians take on each other. Even 5 year olds are thaught not to play with russians, by their parents.

I've met some asshole Russians, and some wonderful Russians. At this point, Putin is the only Russian we should hate. I don't know why he's doing this stuff, but I think his own generals will put him out of his misery. No nukes will be launched. It's a wonderful world, and one dickhead isn't going to end it for us all.

You are right, there are good and bad in every country, race and gender. I dont understand this political powerplay either, nor do I get how can the russian economy recover when most of the world won't do business with them.

I believe political leaders should fight their own battles rather than send the civilians into war but that is too much asked from any country.

I don't think there will be unity between Ukrainians and Russians in our lifetimes again after this war.. Shame though, because if it wasn't for Putin? there definitely would be parity.

Sad but true. The ones that suffer the most are the pnes with the least smount of power. Even after the what, it will take decades for the world to build the business relations back to normal.
