A drug-addicted woman was charged with murder because her stillborn baby was stillborn due to the drugs. Are you FOR or AGAINST the charges?

My opinion is yes, it’s justified. However, if we’re going to allow abortion (which I’m against) then nope not justified. I don’t see a difference between a woman going to a clinic to murder her unborn baby vs a drug addict using drugs while pregnant and killing her baby in as a consequence. I’d say the drug addict is actually the morally superior one between the two considering the woman having an abortion knows exactly what she’s doing and the purpose is 100% to kill the fetus, while the drug addict may not even know the drugs would lead the the fetus death or even so, she is sick with addiction and not in her right mind from the drugs anyway.

I not in favor of taking drugs but she shouldn't have been charged. I don't know why she was taking drugs. perhaps she was suffering from mental or physical pain. Even so, she shouldn't have been charged. I prefer to allow natural selection to take care of such problems, even if centuries in the future.

If select people (for example those taking drugs) produce even 1% fewer descendants, that is overwhelming (21,000 to 1) in 1,000 generations, just a brief time in our evolutionary history. Obviously, because her baby died, that is much greater than 1%. In her case even 20 generations will suffice.

Whatever is done with her, it's too late. This shouldn't have happened. There needs to be more help for addicts.

With the large majority of crimes, it's just about impossible to know with certainty how to prevent those crimes. We might not be able to stop this particular crime, but we do know with certainty that SOME can be prevented.

Kinda stupid. Murder charges are supposed to be for people who actually willingly killed someone. This is just the most petty use of a law I can think of. (it's late and I'm pretty drunk so just keep that in mind)

It's pretty hard to prove a direct connection between drug use and stillbirth. Also stillborn babies don't have full human rights so they can't technically be murdered.
