Why does insurrection have a negative connotation?

It doesn't, really. An insurrection can be a positive or a negative thing. It depends on the intent and the parties involved.

Here's the Mirriam-Webster dictionary definition:
The act or an instance of open revolt against civil authority or a constituted government. A rising up; uprising.



In the case of the Jan 6 Insurrection, that's been ruled to have been an attempted coup. And what the rioters and domestic terrorists were trying to revolt against wasn't "the government" as an institution. It was specifically the peaceful transition of power - a symbolic gesture that brings each Presidential turnover to close in peace and goodwill.

Because the insurrection was targeting the peaceful and democratic process the USA is built on, it is a negative thing. The alternative was a coup largely formed by knowing deceit and misinformation from the GoP (not to mention the grifting of thousands from American people who thought they were supporting a candidate they believed in), organized by recognized hate and terrorist groups, and resulting in deaths of civilians and law enforcement.


The insurrectionists wouldn't have abolished government. Or even reformed it.


They would have handed it over to Trump and... Well, I honestly don't think he even had a plan for what would happen. Burger party with Kim Jung-Un and Papa Putin?

What I do know, is that the glowies are up to their eyes in this. It's no right wing/left wing shit. It's the rulers vs. The ruled. And the innocent people getting these bullshit hearings over a year later are going to get hell for it.

It's negative for me because I don't want people doing fake little unorganized protestors over little things. First of all, if you're going to do it, do it right. Second of all, save your energy for when it's going to be really needed later on.
