    It's a rotation :D

And sociologically, I see it as a discussable tool to adjust your 'country' to achieve a few betterments.

Fantastic. People rising up to remove injustice and unequal power structures. Guillotines. Eat the Rich.

Lmao, nah, man. I've been for revolution since I learned about the French Revolution in junior high. I'm a socialist through and through, and always have been.

Not sure what the question means by what the word "revolution" evokes. Being in politics, as I have been for over 30 years, it typically means political upheaval of some kind or other. However, its' intellectual origins are somewhat complex.

Originally, the term "revolution" as used by the ancient Greeks meat a return to what things were. Given its modern usage, this is somewhat ironic. "Revolution" in the Greek sense was something of a restoration. A political or social order had broken down and revolution was the point in which the socio-political order returned to first principles, so to speak.

(Just as an aside, this usage actually had its origins in science. When a planet made one orbit around its' star, it was said to have completed one revolution around the star.)

The modern - and if I may add more sinister - usage began with the Enlightenment. The idea behind the Enlightenment was - and is - an order rooted in natural law. Where law, society and politics are made in conformance with those natural laws - including natural rights in some later usages - order and harmony will follow.

However, law, society and politics often, for various reasons, become distorted. This resulting in political disharmony, turmoil and imperfection. A revolution then was a violent reaction against this disharmony to restore the natural law.

The American Revolution - and the "Glorious Revolution" in the UK - was fought in this intellectual tradition - and indeed, the USA is a product of the Enlightenment. However, this went a step further in the rRomantic reaction to the Enlightenment. Particularly in the ideas of Rousseau and the French Revolution (and later in a more sinister way, Marx.) It called for the overturning of basically everything - of the whole of the established order.

Suffice to say, this was a bloody affair. Chaos resulted. For the classic explanation of all this, see also Edmund Burke's "Reflections on the Revolution in France." As man is a social being, revolution disconnects him from his fellow man, and bad things follow.

This is just a short summation of a longer intellectual history. However, it basically sums up what the term "revolution" evokes for me. It actually does the same for most people, only lacking an awareness of the intellectual history, they don't realize it. Thus the term "revolution" gets thrown carelessly about, and thus politics on the planet is what it is today.

@andreasderjuengere I have cats and there are other things that are more highly recommended for them, so I've never tried the Revolution.
