Will Red Flag Laws work? Will they work in the Ghetto Uban area where gun violence abounds? Will Parents of thugs use the laws to take guns from thug?

Most gun violence is in urban areas.

Most murders are black on black and usually drug related.

So will the black parents of those thugs use Red Flag laws to have their family members guns confiscated?

It's not a swift process to take someone's gun away. You have to make a petition to the court first - which sounds like a hassle.
You can't just take someone's gun from them, even in the face that the gun owner is a dangerous person.
I am not sure how long the whole process takes, but chances are the person may have shot their gun by the time it goes through the court system. Depending on which State they are in, it could take a very long time in somewhere like California.

But my question is this.

The media is focusing on "school shootings" or similar shootings when they promote Red Flag laws.

My question is will Red Flag laws be applied to urban areas where thugs, who by definition, should not be in possession of guns. Will family members call authorities on their drug dealing/ gang banger relatives? I doubt it.

@BillyBalls sure, they can call the police or someone or do it themselves. My confusion comes in that you have to take it to court first. Then the Red Flag Law would work. But sounds like people wanting to take someone's gun will have to follow protocol first. That's the way I read it to say?
