Very fatalistic but ultimately ambiguous in the party in question. Maybe pointing against authoritarian regime leaning.
1984! 1984? I get the political meme.
I get that orwell wasn't a left leaning individual but his teachings reject a lot of the worst of conservativitism of today being authoritarianism.
Like the Florida bill "don't say gay" bill being actually thought policing. Also the banning of books that is basically book burning without the fire hazard and dancing on public squares.
See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil or believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see, both quotes come to mind
Sounds like the end goal of the democrats when they can just grab children off the street and execute anyone who doesn't want to follow them
I know Jan 6th was violent, I'd I'd been in charge it would've been worse carpet bombing the terrorists would have sufficed ditto the CHAZ of 2020
Much like all racists are republicans, they were from the cullable mulch-worthy ilk but hey both sides have them
I interpret it as:
• 'The Party' is the government, they will tell you, the electoralite, what they think you want to hear
• Even if what you read up or listen to, they will try to make you believe otherwise
• They will convince you that everything else is wrong and they are right and justified in their actions
Basically, I read that and think of the tory government in the UK and the BBC (Bias Broadcasting Company)
We live in a world where we choose our own evidence. No matter how bizarre your belief you'll find evidence to support it on the Internet.
Evidence can be faked, video and images easily created by 12 year old with a a laptop.
Even if something is real, if we don't agree we'll reject the evidence as fake news. We don't need a party to do that, we've already started.

Hmm... wild guess... George Orwell referencing the current situation in the Republican Party, some 67 years prior?
Forget what's real
Forget what happened.
Do what we tell you.
Lie.
Repeat the lie often
Repeat the lie till it becomes the truth
Yes, sounds perfectly accurate.
Let's watch hours of videos of violent acts, destruction, people getting hurt, lives put in danger in our nation's Capitol, listen to testimony of eye witnesses who either got hurt or saw others getting hurt and then say " soooo, what's your point?" Yup, that's the Republican Party now.
They seem to have forgotten what the late great Daniel Moynihan said:
"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts".
oh my sweet summer child ha ha ha
I'm not sure if that's what the quote means but I see it as a way of telling us citizens to not believe in everything that we see or hear from politicians.
It has a rather different meaning now in the age of information warfare and deepfakes.
In a decade you'll have no way to tell if a video is real or not and we'll probably end up with a fucking hologram in the whitehouse.
For example, did you know that in the last few weeks cyber attacks have caused fires at both Russian and American natural gas plants.
This cold war is getting mighty hot mighty fast.
We were all warned of the dangers of people like McDonald Trump a long ass time ago.
It wasn’t that long ago when he was President not sure what Era your from what It wasn’t that long ago
The original title was 1948. It's like they're using 1984 and the Handmaid's Tale as roadmaps. (And we even have TVs in every room that can spy on you, at least audio.)
This got some deep meaning that is a bit difficult for me to follow. Buuut I think my brain is making sense of it... so I'm not that dumb lol
“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."
The "evidence" is now being manufactured to spec of some unknown ASI, Artificial Superintelligence.
Lets judge the comments to see who actually read it 👀
I love that book.
'If u want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stomping on a human face—for ever.' ... ― George Orwell, 1984
That's the statement " Mitch McConnell " has believed his entire life " Don't Actually Believe Your lying Eyes " LMFAO
orwell was ahead of his time.
his works are even more applicable today.
Yea I have seen a lot of this stuff
I just think it was a good book!
Sounds like the Republican Party.
Normal in todays society. Too bad.
Relatable
