Something taken way out of context and spun to make Planned Parenthood look bad, yet again.

Yes Sanger believed in the now debunked eugenics. Also true that she started " the negro project". But the aim of it was to give access to birth control in black communities. Not abortions (which was basically illegal at the time).

The quote this idea stems from was written (not very well) in an article and has forever being taken out of context because of how poorly it was written. The quote reads: “The minister’s work is also important and he should be trained, perhaps by the Federation as to our ideals and the goal that we hope to reach. We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”

The quote is talking about what preposterous allegations she fears to happen not her actual mission.

While the project itself was controversial and we have no idea what her actual goal is, it is however, not the goal of planned Parenthood in the current day, therefore is absolutely pointless to be making such bold claims just to stir the pot more.

The organization when it started was more about birth control than abortion. In fact Marget Sanger was pro birth control and anti-abortion according to wikipedia anyway

Those are facts. So what? Many things that started out badly morphed into something better, and vice-versa. Look at the Republican Party. They started out as abolitionists and look at them today.

The point is that's not what it is today, regardless of its start, which is a very good thing. The Republicans however, are nowhere near what they once were either, which is a very bad thing.

So thanks for the history lesson. Seriously, I'm not being sarcastic. It's good to know, but it's not really relevant to what they are today. Shall we discuss the history of the US Government's 500+ treaties with Native American's next?

Haha, this is old. It doesn’t matter what her intents were. What matters here is what is right. If a Black woman in poverty has a child in a single mother home, you think that child will have equal access to health care, education, life’s opportunities? What if the mother can’t afford or doesn’t know about birth control? What if she buys a shitty dud brand? What if she uses sex to cope with her life? What if she’s lazy and doesn’t care? What if the men she sleeps with are uneducated or don’t care? Does it only apply to Blacks? What about poor Whites? What about poor immigrants? Hispanics? Why should they be backed into a corner and be burdened with the choice of taking a life when they’re the ones that give it? What kind of emotional toll does that take on them?

Cherish life, both that of the born and the unborn. Don’t risk procreation unless you can afford it. All lives matter.
