What are you thoughts on communism?

I have been doing a lot of research about communism lately. From what I’ve seen communism also follows the following trend in history:

>Poor working class are angry and fed up with wealthy elites controlling everything

> A violent uprising is started by the working class to overthrow the wealthy elites. It usually headed by an educated/privileged leader who is seemingly sympathetic to the common man

> Anybody who opposed the new regime is censored, imprisoned, re-educated (mentally and/or physically brainwashed) or “purged” (executed)

> mass exodus to more capitalistic countries usually happens from people trying to escape the regime

> new system usually makes life even worse then before for citizens (shortages, famine, forced labor and military conscriptions)

> communist country usually falls behind in technological advancements and modernization (except for military technology)

> communist leaders themselves enjoy wealth, power and special privileges. They become what the new society was originally trying to get rid of

> communist elites use heavy hand oppression to keep themselves in power.

Dangerous ideology that started with good intentions but ends in misery and oppression

A good idea that’s never been applied properly

It was always a better system then capitalism.

Socialism is a good idea. Not communism (explain why socialism is better)

Communism is too extreme - no one would go for it. In fact, despite all the comments here about how communism has always been a failure in the past, no communist country has ever actually existed.
Relatively extreme forms of socialism have been tried, and the results have admittedly been quite mixed at best. On the other hand, more moderate forms of socialism or "democratic socialism" have been tried, and have been wildly successful (eg. Sweden).
A lot depends on your definition of socialism really, as it can have a pretty broad meaning.

Sweden and Iceland (until recently) are very homogenous populations. They don’t have to deal with the complications of a very populated diverse country.

In the late 1800's it was a trend for the ''intellectuals'' to sit in a comfy armchair and to write down some abstract theories about life (that they never experienced themselves).
Communism had a certain weight and relevance once. But times have changed, and it would be a good idea to work on some ''neo-communism'' instead of mourning about the good old times. Let me add: ''Make America great again'' (and followingly: reckless 'capitalism') is a similarly idiotic concept.
Apparently, no one (me included) has a better theory as per today- and so it's understandable that people for the time being look for some orientation that they have experience with.
We presently see a ''copy-and-paste'' culture, so I'd say that mankind will need some additional 100 or more years to come up with something that works better... at least for a while.

Although I am conservative I never was into the far right “maga” either. I think that was a backlash to Obama’s far left policies he enacted to his second term.

Anyway after studying Marx and Engels it seems they had noble snd idealist intentions. But neither one of them were ever “proleteriat” working class. Both of them were able to subside from bourgeoisie financial assistance.

But their philosophy later lead to one of the most ugliest and heinous ideologies mankind has ever seen. While I don’t think that was their intention but they did come up with this seductive promise of utopia which lead to misery and dystopia. It’s just not possible give human nature.

Capitalism is perfect. There are winners and losers. There are greedy exploiters. But overall it usually improves the quality of life for everyone. It gives you the power of choice and the ability to be rewarded for hard work, performance and innovation.

It’s scary how uneducated the younger generations are about this. Part of the problem is leftist educators are downplaying or not even teaching kids about the atrocities communism has committed.

For example there is hard evidence that Stalin killed more Ukrainians than hitler killed Jews.

Communism HAS been applied effectively right here in the US, and it still is. The media doesn’t highlight that fact because the media is owned by capitalists invested in keeping people ignorant of the facts.
