Why are we sending billions of dollars in weapons to Ukraine to fight a hopeless war while we have people here starving and unable to afford rent?

The USA is out of money and we are still printing more money we don't have and sending more weapons. If you're going to fight Russia, you need to send the boots on the ground to finish the job or don't do anything. The mercenaries and police don't work for free. What are you going to do when you can't print anymore? It's a like family that is starving with no money and barely able to keep the lights on and the father decides to max out his credit card to buy guns for his friends instead of feeding his family.

Are you kidding me? This is an American wet dream come true. Right when USA became concerned Russia was going to become a threat to them again they go ahead and invade Ukraine.. and fuck up the invasion so badly that Russia might collapse in more ways than one.

Wars are incredibly expensive, which is why Russia is going to suffer badly. Supplying someone fighting a war is barely costing a fraction of that and can in fact be used to boost your own economy, hence the economic boom for USA after WW2.

Even if you ignore all the benefits USA secures across the world by sabotaging Russia as well as helping a country with the population and industrial potential to rival Germany. Just building and selling the guns is benefiting the US economy. The military industry like any other needs consumers, they won't make any money by just having USA store all their military shit in a shed somewhere.

Now when USA is giving it all away and buying new that means someone has to make it and suddenly the factories kick into high gear, people have gainful employment and the economy turns which in turn comes back as higher taxes on their increased profits.

Sure its not the most efficient way to boost economic growth but its hardly the worst and you even get to eliminate one of your two biggest rivals in the deal. I also doubt you would be in favor if programs that ACTUALLY would be efficient.. like Bidens build back better or the green new deal.

Most countries giving aid to Ukraine will collect more than they invest. It may take a while but it is likely to happen.

But just like in historical situations, if your pony loses you gain nothing. And so to not lose prior investments you keep investing.

If you want to know the actual development, look at the ones best informed and ask yourself what their stance is. Based on that you can extrapolate some truth.
For example: What does China want? China's ideal situation is that this goes on for many years and drains everyone else's funds. They do not want either side to win. As such, they will lend aid to whichever side is losing. China very recently swapped to giving aid to Russia. This, ignoring any backroom deals, would indicate Russia is in actual trouble.

Because if Russia takes Ukraine, China will be emboldened and take Taiwan, possibly even attack Japan or the Philippines.

Then the US will be cut off from the chip manufacturers in Taiwan and fall into a depression, lose reserve currency status and probably fracture into a few smaller successor states leaving China and Russia to shape the future of humanity at a critical moment where the collapse of the biosphere is very possible.

So in short, it's to stop WW3 and the end of America.

If you want people to take care of eachother you're going to have to make it happen at the local level.

The US in many ways provoked Russia, we didn’t force them, but we provoked them. We were ramping up military exercises and trying to cripple the Russians in anyway we could. That’s no excuse for the invasion, I think that Russia was also at fault by causing unrest in a specific region of Ukraine and claiming victim. The annexation of the Crimea certainly didn’t help the Russians cause or claim of victim hood. Additionally the US uses weapons and military aid to gain Allie’s and make money. It’s the way the US does things, so to provide aid in this way is allowing The US to play a proxy war against Russia and cripple there economy.
