What do you think or have to say about this statement regarding pregnancy?

I was once talking to a much younger female friend who was in simultaneous sexual relationships with two men, without condoms and seemed surprised when she got pregnant.
I said “You’re a perfectly healthy 20-year-old woman, you had unprotected sex, and you got pregnant. What part of this surprised you? If we were having sex and I got pregnant, that would have been a surprise!”
She said she was allergic to latex and didn’t make men use condoms. She was an absolutely gorgeous blonde. Every man I ever shown her picture to said she would have been worth a $5 sheep skin condom!
Why didn't she do pill? Or tubes tied?
@anon1903 she said she was on the pill. Tying the tubes might be a bit extreme for a woman in her early twenties. Dr. Ruth always recommend redundancy. She said men should wear condoms and women should be on another birth control method as a backup.
Also, 2/3 of out of wedlock pregnancies begin while one or both parties are drunk. that was the case with her.
What a trainwreck
Lmao, while I agree with this and think it's hilarious, it also unfortunately ignores the realities of rape and men lying to women about sex (and vice versa).
There's also the unfortunate reality that some women will poke holes in condoms or lie about the pill (or, in even more horrifying cases, MILs do this to their DILs to force grandkids) in order to baby trap a guy.
And it also ignores the fact that, at least in America, there's a lot of people who aren't ever taught anything about reproductive health or safe sex outside of "don't do it".
You end up with people thinking if you wash your pussy or pull out you won't get pregnant. Or that you can't get pregnant on your first time, or shit like that. Hop on one foot clockwise under the full moon to avoid pregnancy or some bullshit.
But generally, assuming we're talking about consenting adults with sex ed somewhere in their background, this. 100% this.
Yeah
Hardly any educated person believes that shit. They’re just too lazy to control themselves because it feels so fucking good.
What does concern me is our education is going downhill. Especially for the poor half of America. The horde will grow.
@love_conquers_lust
Pretty ironic username for someone so hatefully ignorant.
XD good observation, girl
To clarify, I was referencing everything you said in the fourth paragraph. I’m also saying they can get the education and choose to ignore it anyway. To which you could argue they weren’t truly educated. But then why do smokers continue to smoke? Why do we continue to drive?
Everything else you said was pretty sound. Hopefully that elucidates on the ignorance.
I’m glad you noticed my name.
@anon1903 Lol, thanks! It's funny how he back tracks immediately, too. I see why whoever left him left him, lol!
That's men for you. The "superior in intelligence" species
Yup, I guess you got me. Do you feel like you’ve won anything?
@anon1903 Lol, they're certainly not, but hey, it helps their little egos to stand up if they think so every now and again.
Have a great day, friend! 😁
You too, sweetheart x
Meh. It’s just one persons opinion, worded in a manipulative way but trying to come off as persuasive. Not buying it the way they put it.
A baby is one possible outcome of sex, but it’s not a guaranteed consequence.
The biological purpose for sex is to propagate the species. That is a biological fact.
Any pleasure derived from getting laid was mother nature's way to get animals to mate!!
How can you not buy that sex without a condom often leads to pregnancy?
Sure, but why would anybody be surprised when it does?
it's pretty much a guaranteed outcome of sex... it's not a surprise or a mistake
it does display how ignorant some people can be...
to think that a condom is going to be safe 100% is just stupid an stupid assumption, lol
it might be surprising indeed for some, but condoms and most of the contraceptive options are not 100% safe, especially when they are not applied correctly and to think that just because you had sex safe you cannot get pregnant is indeed a mistake, lol
also, you can have sex without condoms and still end up NOT pregnant for various and many reasons
Also, a woman is "fertile" about 5 days a month.
@BillyBalls the most fertile yes... but then there is the irregularity of cycles, so why gamble on it... lol

i have a feeling she was not expecting a tv nor the sex or pregnancy.
You understand the point of the above statement though correct?
I do, however most have sex without condoms as they are in Birth control.
What is not included in Birth control stats is when a girl has a stomach bug etc and it does not work,
However if 2 people have sex without a condom and birth control then they are both stupid.
For some reasons the pull out method seems to be an American thing.
The point is, most sex is in the category “consensual.”
Both parties, I imagine, would know the consequences and know what they are doing.
Many humans, not all, always want a safety net.
They want to be able to do things, perhaps dangerous to themselves or others, at least harmful, AND have a safety net so that they don’t suffer the consequences.
One thing I’ve come to realize about the human race…universal personal responsibility is just never going to happen. It’s be great if everyone did the right things all the time. But most people are idiots. So rather than forcing anyone’s hand or pettily rooting for them to “learn the hard way” (which doesn’t even solve anything, the damage is already done), I think we just have to understand that the average human is heavily, HEAVILY flawed, we can expect very little of anyone behaviorally, and we just need to play into that wind rather than piss into it and hoping it’ll die down as our pant legs get soaked, lmao. You just can’t have expectations of humans, unfortunately, we’re an extremely dumb animal.
... Except when the condom is defective, or the morning after pill doesn't work, or when you had a vasectomy but still got someone pregnant anyway, or the literal thousands of times it is...
Also, whoever wrote this pro-life headline: It's none of your f*cking business what people choose to do with their sex lives, and you aren't helping them to be parents or positively affecting their lives in any way, so who gives a f*ck what you consider a surprise or what their choices are about abortion?
It's true and that's reality.
Some people say that safety can fail, well then don't rely on just a condom or just pills to prevent pregnancy.
Never in my life have I met or spoke to anyone who knows a girl that has an intrauterine device, used birth control and condoms and still got pregnant.
People don't understand that you can never be "too safe" when it comes to this kind of stuff. There are so many things you can do to prevent pregnancy and nullify the risk.
The oldest woman I have gotten pregnant was 44. I didn’t think she’d get pregnant at that age, but she did, and it was unprotected sex. It probably would have been prevented if we had used condoms and she’d been on BC. That’s on us. And that’s usually the case with unexpected pregnancies.
It's bullshit. I had sex with my future ex-fiance several times a week with no condom or other form of BC for a few YEARS before she got pregnant! We weren't planning it! It WAS a surprise!! So was her finding out that the baby could kill her if she went full term!!
I absolutely agree to it.
Sexual liberation was a mistake. And that applies both for men and women. I'm from Asia where we only kiss a girl if she is our girlfriend or only have sex with her if we want to marry her, not for recreation. There are other ways to get sexual pleasure without risking pregnancy.
I mean if both people agree to have unprotected sex with each other then there is always a chance of pregnancy even if he doesn't dump his full load inside her. because while it might be very rare it's possible to get pregnant from just pre cum alone if the right conditions are meet.
Surprised when that guy dragged her in an alley?
Surprised when you woke up in a strange hotel room after your diet coke was drugged?
Surprise visit from the neighbor in your bed when you were 11?
Yes. If you had sex without a condom, pregnancy shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. If you did use condoms, or some other contraceptive, then it’s very reasonable to be surprised by an unexpected pregnancy.
Someone doesn't think some happen by accident either a defective condom or someone raping another person.
I would spray paint after expect.
"Expect to be Raped" then tell me how you feel.
If you do something that might result in pregnancy it’s not a surprise if it does. One of the things that differentiates humans from lower order thinking animal species is the ability to predict future consequences.
Anyone saying that obviously hasn't experienced a unexpected pregnancy. Go through it and they'd for sure feel differently
Unexpected?
That is like touching a hot stove and expecting not to get burned.
@BillyBalls it can definitely be unexpected if the woman thought she wasn't ovulating/has irregular cycles, birth control messing with ovulation, failed pullout. With one of my pregnancies I got pregnant during my period. It was extremely unexpected to the point I didn't even question if i was pregnant till I was days late the next month
@Apple1996
How about those who don't know they are pregnant until they are in labor. My cousin's baby mama was that way. She was on the thinner side and never looked like she was pregnant.
@MysteriousDarkness same with that too. That's like extremely unexpected tho lol
@Apple1996
I know that but still happens.
Probably a quote by a bitter man.
It does make sense though. Reproduction is why sex exists in the first place! If you wanna have it recreational — be on a pill or put a rubber on it! #noglovenolove
If you had sex during a time where you believed the woman was not fertile (i. e.-not near ovulation), it woudl be a surprise... legitimately... if she got pregnant.
Not true. If using the pill it is usually pretty safe to have raw sex. But it can fail under certain circumstances, as I found out. Condoms fail too so not like that's 100%.
I think Roe V Wade being over turned means women are going to somewhat get held to the standards men get held to. Or, at least a little closer.
And they can't stand it.
It's kind of stupid since condoms are only 98% effective if they are being used correctly every single time... which basically means that if you have sex with a condom that is being worn correctly 50 times chances are someone will end up pregnant...
The failure rates for birth control are stated per year with a “normal” amount of sex. So if a girl becomes sexually active at 13 to 15 and gets married around 30, multiple the failure rate of her birth control method by 15 to 20 to get a linear approximation of her chances of getting pregnant.
It’s actually an exponential function. For a 98% effective rate over 25 years, you would compute.98 to the power of 15 and get 74%. Or, some websites already show the ten year failure rate.
You can also multiply rates together for multiple methods. The 2% failure rate of a condom, multiplied by the 0.25% failure rate of a vasectomy yields a 0.005% failure rate.
And, some people just beat the odds. A friends’ wife had a tubal ligation and got pregnant. Her doctor told my friend “In one out of a thousand women the tubes grow back together and it looks like your wife was the one.”
It’s a hilarious way to express a truth that at least half the country doesn’t want to discuss. Ell oh ell!
Not very catchy or accurate. Unprotected sex will probably get you pregnant but every now and again, protected sex will too. Then maybe it is a surprise. And a mistake.
Amen to that.
Although, some couples may be trying for years to conceive and when the woman finds out she's finally pregnant it can be seen as a 'surprise'.
Luck plays in, too. With perfectly healthy couple with no fertility problems, 15% to 20% will fail to conceive within a year. If it’s 20%, that means 4% will not conceive within two years and 0.8% within three. I know a couple thought they were infertile and had a child 11 months after adopting.
Sometimes birth control fails you. But yeah, I agree with the general message.
Its true! But it only focused on the male side of the equation, and left out that the woman had ignored any of the 30+ methods of birth control available to her.
It is logical. But most people have an allergic reaction to logic.
I think it's stupid. I've had condoms break. Even when they don't they're not 100% effective.
Well before you stuck you wrapped willie into her pussy you knew springing a leak was a possibility.
So what was surprising about it?
It's pretty obvious. But so are the expected counter excuses.
Wait a second... can she actually give birth to a plasma TV? No way.
A plasma tv is so much more desirable than a real human being, omg!
It's the truth.
Probably needs to be said more often.
Yes, unless it's a rape. In all other cases you know what you get into.
That statement disregards sexual abuse and rape
I’m not sure it does.
I think it is talking about the general circumstance or vast majority of cases.
Some people have low IQ i dont know how to say it but abortion is useful for them.
Yes, that's pretty accurate for consensual sex.
In other words, the vast majority of sex.
It's true, no matter how much it hurts.
100% Correct!
It is very funny and true
People assume birth control will work.
You know what they say when one assumes anything
lol, pretty accurate.
It’s inaccurate and unethical
The fuck are you babbling about?
Babbling? I said 4 words man 😁
It's correct and proper.
Very true.
I think it’s dumb
You want to explain?
I see creating new people as immoral in today’s world, so any anti abortion argument comes off as naïve and virtue signaling since they pretend to care about life, but never in the actual world where existing people suffer in different ways. I think people should be able to choose if they create a person, but I am against it
You sound like an antinatalist, do you identify as one?
@anon1903 I haven’t read about antinatalism, so I’m not sure yet if I would group myself in with them or not.
"Antinatalism or anti-natalism is the ethical view that negatively values procreation"
Awesome truth
Absolutely true!!
