Trump was a good president but he needs to step aside and sail into the sunset. He will be over 80 years old if he's elected to office. Do Americans really want old people in position of governmental power? Exhibit A: Joe Biden.

Best candidate for GOP would be DeSantis bar none. If Trump and DeSantis decides to run and they nominate Trump and he loses the election, GOP 100% would deserve it.

Side note regarding age: While I obviously prefer an older person with more experience than a young and inexperienced politician as a president, I am in favor of age limit (80 perhaps) for any elected office. I am slightly contradicting myself here but I absolutely agree with George Carlin's take on politicians

I will stick with Trump. He fixed the country once and hopefully he can do it again. Ron DeSantis would be my second choice and probably should run in 2028

I agree. If both Trump and DeSantis run in the primary, Gavin Newsom will win in the general election.
DeSantis needs to wait his turn. If he plays his cards right, he can be the Veep for four years, and then the president for eight years.

Ah, yes, DeSantis, who has managed to bring Florida from 25,000 behind to overtake New York in just two short years. Considering he had to contend with the hurdles of vaccines and masks, it's a remarkable achievement!

@Dargil I know, right? 70,000 covid deaths in the last two years, compared to a measly 38,000 in New York, And knowing that masks work all that time and having vaccines available for the last 18 months.

The decision to only report a fraction of the covid deaths in a timely fashion and only report the rest (less anybody from out of state, natch) after a week has passed was masterful.

Efficacy of surgical masks has never been proven. N95's may do something but even that is unproven.
Vaccines have been proven to be accompanied by high risks. Like athletes dropping dead.
DeSantis never forced anyone to ignore mandates. Many could have affirmed them but they chose Liberty instead. I did as well. DeSantis quality as a leader does not hinge on covid deaths. I have had covid twice. Omicron, most likely. I have no regrets. I choose Liberty as well.

@Dargil JFC. Yes masks have been proven to be effective. The risks of vaccines are vastly lower than the risks from covid. DeSantis signed laws saying that it was illegal to mandate masks.

And all that resulted in 32,000 clearly unnecessary deaths over two years. I bet they're enjoying their freedom from life.
