To clarify, the NCAA didn't do the nomination, one of its colleges (Penn) did, and there are many nominees. One swimming victory does not make a woman of the year, and several other collegiate women have pointed that out. Let's see where Lia Thomas finishes in the voting.

I'm a little confused on this. Personally I don't care one way or the other if she gets woman of the year. But was the nomination a joke? Because how do you nominate a person for that reward while simultaneously trying to deny her her place in women's sports? It just doesn't make sense.
