It is proven and tested that athletes can just get a sex change or claim another gender, for personal and political agendas. A male can now claim to be a female, but the hormones remain the same, and give them an advantage over actual women in the Olympics, RUINING the Olympics for women and RUINING WORLD HISTORY, for women.
When we ask others about an athlete that inspires them, and why. We think about athletes like Michael Phelps, who has won several medals. We think about athletes like Jennifer Azzi or Katrina McClain.
We think about athletes with generational feats like Jesse Owens who was inspirational because he was an African American track star during 1936 in the midst of world war 2, in Berlin! During the Nazi Regime's rise! In the same stadium as Hitler, and he beat Germany first! He also held the world record for 20 YEARS! 39.8 seconds!
We think about athletes like Wilma Rudolph! Who was an African American woman who held the world record in the Olympics, during a time in American history where the Civil Rights Movement was in full swing! 1956 and 1960!!
These people were an icon of HOPE for, not only African Americans, but minority groups all over the world.
And what about Jim Thorpe? The FIRST Native American Olympian!!
Point being, the meaning of the Olympics has changed. People have let competitivety ruin the purpose and the meaning of these sports. It sets all the women there at a disadvantage, an unfair one, that muscle and strength developing hormones in men's DNA has. It breaks the dreams of so many athletes that have trained so hard to become the best.
At the other perspective, nobody knows the personal reason, if any, that somebody may undergo a sex change for. Maybe that self identity problem is real, or maybe it's a personality disorder. Maybe it's a birth defect they decided to try to fix because it's hard to live happily with, or maybe somebody got the surgery done because they could and it was a kink of theirs.
But... when a man has the right to self identify as a woman, without question, one should worry about them sharing the bathroom with our daughters.
People say there is some sort of rape culture in the US, and for us to enable and encourage the idea that self identification is okay, we have to question ourselves on this;
Are we enabling it by supporting this?
How are we going to keep this from negatively impacting schools? From negatively impacting sports? From negatively impacting social events? Etc...
We have a lot more things to discuss on here than just sports with an issue like this, and it is an issue. We need more socially responsible thinking when it comes to the topic of if I have a daughter and she goes to school and gets taught to be sexually confused and insecure about herself, or the same for if I have a son. Or if I was to have a wife, and she goes to work, and gets sexually assaulted, and then she can't properly identify a male or female to police or to anybody, because it's socially wrong.
Point being, this whole transgender thing, this whole self identification thing, is an injustice to society, and make a larger divide in social and economic settings. With sports, and the world we live in day to day.
People _want_ too much. People should accept that not _all_ is makeable or worth making. It seems that gender dysphoria is a condition that happens to about 0.005% to 0.014% of people assigned male at birth and 0.002% to 0.003% of people assigned female at birth.
There are four classes in (top) sport:

That's _not_ because they don't want men to run next to women and get distracted, that's because men and women have a different physical builds. That means the men have more muscle mass due to more testosterone and can therefor _overall_ be stronger than women. That's why they have different classes to keep it fair.
The person in this example was born as a man, and spend a whole part of his adult life as a man. The fact that he had gender re-assignment surgery or currently similar testosterone levels as a woman does not make him 100% similar to a woman.
I consider gender dysphoria a pathology, one that requires care and help, not in a negative way or in a stigmatizing way. This is another extreme of trying to make everything possible and feasible. It's not _fair_ for the female athletes to compete against this person. I'm not denying this person an Olympic career, but he should play in the same league as his 'gender assigned at birth' dictates or _not_ compete.
In addition, I can imagine that many female athletes would feel uncomfortable with him/her sharing the locker rooms and showers with him/her.

I don't think it's fair for trans women to compete against biological women. Being born male and going through puberty as a male you will naturally be physically stronger, even after a male begins taking hormones. Generally, they will be physically taller and more built as men build muscle faster and stronger than women simply because of their natural physiology. I don't believe that trans people should be excluded from sports but I do believe they need to either have their own separate division or compete with those they are matched more evenly against.

I think its unfair because they were born as male and males have more testosterone than women which helps males be stronger, higher endurance, faster speed, and have higher bone mass than women. However, that is not what a large majority of the public wants to see. Therefore, viewership will drop and advertising revenue will take a big hit.
Ultimately, viewership and especially money rules so in future Olympics, transgender athletes may have a separate category. Therefore, in future Olympics, transgender women will not be allowed to compete in women's sports in the Olympics.

I think trans girls deserve to be in sports competitions like any other girl but not against cisgender girls. Trans girls should have their own competitions for trans girls to compete with each other and be all fair

I don't agree with trans-women competing with genetic women. Men's bodies are very different from a genetic woman's body - bone structure, muscle, etc. For a male to 'feel' he is a woman, takes hormones, even has surgeries, (S) he will beat a genetic woman out 90% of the time, pound for pound.

Well I'm really disappointed in Scientific American for publishing that misleading article. And the other one is quoting one doctor with no references to scientific journals. Several of the points made by the psychiatrist in the SA artical are falacies. First he talks about the effect on trans girls given puberty blockers but doesn't address grown men who transition. He makes the statement that girls still win most races. Well, of course. Most races don't have trans participants. Both of these articles claim there is no scientific evidence, but provide no evidense themselves. Basically, you might be right, but neither of these are credible sources.
And the last article, which also doesn't include supporting evidence, confuses the issue by stating that different level of skill and strength are what make sports a competition. Basically three opinion pieces.

I'm not challenging the mental, emotional, and psychological aspects of someone deciding and/or needing to transition... that would call for me knowing the operation of one's mind, and is also none of my business. However, to believe that internal biology can be flipped like light switch - even with surgery and hormone therapy, and especially with collegiate and professional athletes - is just not biologically accurate.

Don't care, Olympics suck and are boring. I do see the concern that others have though of a biological male competing against women, but whatever... people want equality so maybe there shouldn't be separate competitions for men and for women and everyone just compete together.
One more sporting event to not watch any more. MMA is the only sport i dont think it matters... i mean it does to the girls but its not my daughter fighting in the ring and to see a girl get smashed for her wokeness is fine she should have refused to fight the man. As long as someone wins and someone loses im good.
Trans women are not women. They are man in a dress. It is insane and absurd for them to compete against biological females. This whole business shows well the insanity of the left's ideological war against reality.
