I don’t know that it prevents you from contracting and carrying Covid. Anyone who said that was incorrect. The idea is that it prevents or reduces the resulting illness. My father and I were both vaccinated, we got Covid after the fact. I was pretty much asymptomatic. My father almost died, because he was 89 at the time, which is obviously not the result you’re hoping for, but at his age, I credit the vaccine for him making it to his 90th birthday. He was in tough shape, so if he had been unvaccinated, there’s no doubt in my mind that it would’ve killed him.
The vaccines have actually harmed many people and killed thousands. Two of my relatives have been permanently harmed by the Pfizer shot and one guy I knew died from that shot. ALL of the unvaccinated people I know are totally fine. Only 1 ever got sick and it was like the flu for 3 days.
Most of the vaccinated people I know have been sick with covid multiple times.

The vaccines do not prevent you from getting Covid. They never did. Their purpose is to prepare your immune system if you ever do get Covid, that way you should be less ill than if you hadn't had the vaccine. And empirical data shows that it has worked.
The linked article and statements made by the CDC when the shots first came out directly contradict your first two sentences. They were sold under the promise they’d prevent you from getting covid.
@joeldalton Yeah i think the articles written at the time assume that everyone knows that you still catch the viruses, but the viruses are just not able to grab a footing and start multiplying because your body already recognises the threat it's facing, and fights it immediately, you may not even know you had it, so technically you could say that the vaccine prevented you from getting Covid - even though it didn't, it prevented you from developing symptoms. That's how all vaccines work.
What you typed is a complete lie.
@joeldalton Ok :)
In hindsight, most headlines involving COVID have been wrong, at least to some degree.
They’ve continually sold a bill of lies that the shots prevent covid. Fortunately, the vaccine rates show that people aren’t falling for it in the US.
OBVIOUSLY!! Joey got `em and he still got covid!
Why are you making an issue out of a 2+-year-old headline?
