You must care not at all for democracy, and the prospect of ANY future presidents deciding they can't personalty risk giving up power to their political oppression after an ugly election.
Any leaders given the power to wage war upon forign governments is more than capable of using the same power against his political enemies in his own and have done so on countless occasions historically and around the world. Hence why democracy is so difficult to maintain and we have carefully avoided giving them any compelling personal reason they must to do this for 200+ years.
