I respect others by default, first and foremost...

after that, you can only "lose" my respect, a little or a lot depends on how nefarious you are... or not, lol

I don't need respect from others really... what is given is appreciated when genuine

neutral or indifferent works as well too

You have to have a certain respect for nature as a whole. If you see something that could unalive you at any moment, you keep a respectful distance. Or a rock formation that looks unstable, you just don't climb it

I think it also applies to non-living things. We should respect Nature. Climate change is the proof of what happens when we don't respect it.

There is actually a story about a human born God, being able to weild a bow after giving it respect, while no other could as they did not give respect to it. Hence the question.

Also, the concept of a weapon choosing its human, rather than a human choosing the weapon, is also quite interesting to me.
