I think everyone knew she was going to lose, including her, standing up to Trump’s shenanigans was an obvious suicide mission. In democracies, the vote is left to the people, which makes us feel good, but we ignore the fact that most people are absolute morons who have no idea what’s best for themselves, or ourselves collectively as a society. I’m not saying I have a better idea, I’m just saying to never confuse “the will of the people” with “doing the right thing”, because they very often are not the same thing. People are INCREDIBLY fucking stupid, and it’s important that we never lose sight of that.

Cheney voted along with Trump’s policies in like the 90-some percentile of her votes, so she and I likely have very different political views and goals. But when the rubber met the road, she actually had the lady-balls to put her career on the line and put America over her party. Kinzinger doing the same thing. And I never heard a foul word about either of them until they went against the apparent deity (that’s so fucking alarming🤦‍♂️) who is Donald Trump, so it’s not like there was any real good explanation besides this irrational fealty in the Republican Party. The opposite of Liz Cheney is Kevin McCarthy, who we now KNOW was against the whole Jan. 6th kerfuffle, as exposed by personal text messages, even calling for Trump to be removed via 25th amendment…. then Trump has one meeting with McCarthy and all of a sudden McCarthy’s public message is pro-Trump. It’s just so laughably disingenuous that I can’t get mad about it anymore. And if you ask him anything about it he immediately and obviously starts talking about the Southern border. Like you couldn’t make up this level of tomfoolery. Can you people not see through this blatant fraud, or do you just not want to, so that it doesn’t challenge your own beliefs. It’s fascinating and scary at the same time. I’m trying to remember I never gave a shit about politics before this egregious shitshow of the last 5-6 years forced me into paying attention. Trump made me have to care and be involved, and I’ll always hate him for that, but I just couldn’t sit idly by in good conscience, lmao.

I don't see anyone who demands a government that works for them ever voting for a Republican, including Cheney. I could maybe have seen Romney because he has a bit of a track record establishing sensible policy, even if he later engages in rhetoric against it for partisan reasons (i. e. obamacare), but the idea that a Democrat would decide to vote against making the rich pay their fair share, racial/social justice, reasonable gun safety laws, funding public education and healthcare, bodily autonomy, protecting the right to vote, and taking climate change seriously out of solidarity with Cheney, who opposes all of those things, is a bit of a stretch.

But it's true all the same that Cheney is a fresh resource and no one has yet put her to use. It could go either way but I suspect Cheney will attempt to push her own narrative in the direction of bringing the Republican party back onto "the rails."
