This isn't to make a case, just wanted to see.
Vasectomies are reversible within the first 3-5 years at a 75% rate and the reversibility decreases with time. Female sterilization isn't. The most effective birth controls are implants, IUS, and IUD (around 99%). BC pills are less effective (<95%) if not taken properly.
Birth control has been quite available since the 1920s. The issue is WHO is it available for? And where?
For poor women who don't live in major cities, birth control is hard to come by. Also, it is NOT free. If ANYTHING, birth control devices should be government supported. It is far cheaper to supply someone with a birth control device, something as simple as a condom to something as complex as an IUD or pills, inserts or morning after pills than to support a pregnancy and the child for 18+ years afterward.
But the issue is WHAT birth control should be mandatory? Everyone can't USE the same types of birth control. And this is an infringement on personal freedom as much as abortion bans are. Abortion bans will lead to unwanted pregnancies.
The point is choice is about the choice to have a child when you want to or not have one when you don't. No one should be forced one way or the other. And because birth control devices fail due to a host of reasons, user error, other medications interfering with their efficacy, there should always be backup methods such as morning after pills and abortion.
I think you are correct as it presented , there are many options , IUD is actually probably least invasive and best for most females , not everyone can take the pill , but its about planning , I had a vasectomy after the birth of my second child , and after watching my ex wifes family in action , it was a great move. Did get me into trouble a little later , but I could not be a person who has 4/5 children , no way , I'd be too selfish for that and Id rather we were all independent , interesting neither of my daughters have given birth , the younger is now 30 , and they don't look like giving birth anytime soon.
Now , I could have a child , but my chances would be slim because of the time frame with a reversal , although this is an area improving all the time. But , back to the question , personal responsibility is final , in the " old days " in Thailand 20 odd years ago , they would all be falling pregnant and that was the goal , now you have many self sufficient female business owners , professionals , in their 40 s who have never given birth and probably never will. Overall people plan better as education , and socio economic improvement kicks in.

IUD is actually an incredibly painful experience for many. Majority of places do not give any numbing. It's traumatic. If I had another choice I wouldn't have got it.
Vasectomy is not vert invasive , its keyhole surgery and takes less than 15 min from when you walk in the door. You get numbing and pain relief.. women with IUD get neither, we just get gaslit while we are screaming in pain.
If the government steps in and goes mandatory with this, the most impacted people will would be blacks in the hood, Hispanics, and Muslims. Do you really want to open that can of worms? The groups I mentioned would be screaming about 'planned genocide'. It's probably best not to go there, unless we're setting up a white supremest Nazi government.
I don't know about it being mandatory, I think it should be given/used based on the patients health/condition. I used it to help with hormonal embalances, so gor women that have irregular periods and other problems it could be great for them. However for women that normal periods, don't get cramping, have a healthy hormonal balance it can really throw things off make problems arise. I know some women have said they experienced mood swings and acne. The reason I stopped taking it was cause it made me feel sick, almost like I was having morning sickness so I stopped.
Honestly none of these seem to 100% effective. Pregnancies are still happening, at this point what needs to be mandatory is the push/teaching for abstinence and self control again in our society. This all cones from a lack of self control, none of these would be needed if people just practiced abstinence which is 100% free and 100% effective.

No not at all, birth control has terrible side effects for some and bad side effects in General, also what about people who want children?
I myself don't get huge side effects from birth control, but I only use it while I'm in a relationship. I have a friend who does get bad side effects from BC, affects her mood, libido, period etc.
It would be a pain, and unnecessary to be putting those hormones into my body while I have no need for them, I also want children at some point so yeah, absolutely not.
Luckily I live somewhere where BC is free, and I can get it from the doctors, sexual health clinic or online free.
This isn't as simple as that. Some women will have issues with certain types of birth control... medical issues that make things problematic.
We already see how "caring" the state is in forcing women to carry unviable pregnancies or those related to rape or incest to term.
This is a health issue between a woman and her doctor. Nobody else should be able to force their way into the exam room with you
Except the vast majority of abortions are not done for those reasons, and the Supreme Court let the states decide how to deal with abortion.

It's fine just like it is. People should be able to choose it if they want it, they should be held accountable for their own actions, they should not have to pay for other people's choices, and they should not have to be held responsible for other people's choices.
There's a lot of problems with a law mandating it, and that law would be struck down by federal courts.
One big problem is when would it NOT be mandated? When a woman wants to actively try to have a child?
It's totally impractical for governments to involve itself in mandating birth control.
This is a difficult ethical issue, but still very relevant considering humanity is spreading over the surface of the earth as a bad form of cancer. Something should be done to limit that human cancerlike propagation, but how? That's the question ! I don't know the answer, but sure enough, the religious approach is completely outdated. No offense meant.
You shouldn't count in being able to reverse a vasectomy. As you say, the odds are better if you do it earlier but still not garunteed.

It should not be mandated by any means. Personally I don’t think it’s a very good thing either as it messes with your hormones and can cause lifelong health problems. That said I’m an avid supporter of Informed Consent. People need to realize nearly everything you put in your body has an effect, even if it may not become apparent for awhile. So many people are on medications that could be harming them that they may not need any more if they just made healthy lifestyle changes.
i think people should legally have to go thorugh examination and testing before they are even allowed to have sex without birth control.

You get the depo shot, it prevents pregnancy for 3+ months. Or take a pill. Or use a condom. Or the plenty of other options. Stop comparing vasectomy which is surgery to easy to get contraception.
What are you talking about? There are multiple female versions of the vasectomy such as tubal ligation and ablation. Depo shots are notorious for causing massive weight gain. The fattest I've ever been was after a depo shot, it was incredibly difficult to lose that fat, it just wasn't natural. Pills and the patch cause a severe negative reaction with my body within the first 1-2 days. Condoms are a great option that everyone should use.
@wolfcat87 what’s worse, weight gain or pregnancy? I’ve known plenty of girls who got the depo. All were notorious eaters. You don’t gain weight easily unless you eat like a monster. How can you gain weight if you manage your diet? It’s literally impossible unless your organs don’t work. Go to the gym you won’t gain weight, will lose your period, and won’t get pregnant. Depo shot is a miracle for women but ya’ll can’t be pleased.
You really don't understand female birth control options at all. I literally ate crackers and drank water all day while going to school (1,000-1,200 calories a day), walking 3 miles, going to PE, and going to work and running around all evening every day. Not to mention walking all over town to visit friends. I still could not lose weight until the Depo shot wore off. Again, GYNs know it's notorious for this effect. It has nothing to do with the few people you paid attention to. Once the shot wore off, my weight jumped down so quickly that my choir teacher asked if I was okay because she was so alarmed. I was literally skin and bones when you looked at me, I looked sickly and malnourished due to eating so little for months. So, it is definitely the shot and had nothign to do with diet or a lack of working out.
All weight is not fat. Hormones can also cause you to retain water. Ignoring that though, the Depo shot actually changes a woman's body composition without any other changes to her lifestyle. Studies show that it causes rapid weight gain and makes it harder to lose that weight. In my case, it caused the weight to distribute itself abnormally as well. My fat always deposits in an hourglass figure, and Depo did not allow that to happen. I was fit/toned before the shot, and I went back to fit right after the shot wore off. Luckily, the medical community has a firm grasp of science even when average guys like you don't... ;p
Also, Depo weight gain is way worse than pregnancy. I would get pregnant again, I would never take that shot again.
Also, going to the gym does not make women lose their period. That only happens to women so extreme that they have zero body fat. Many of those women also lose their fertility at that point. You really have no clue about women's bodies.
@wolfcat87 depo is just tricking your body into producing progesterone, which prevents pregnancy. You can gain weight true, but it’s not everyone. And you still have options. Vasectomy is literally cutting the seminal tubes. It’s easily done but very hard to undo, and it’s irreversible after a short time. I had girls get the depo and not gain weight at all or have irregular periods. Not too bad for being able to prevent pregnancy. Water eight is easy to control.

I think this question is largely rhetorical. The obvious answer is no, the government should not mandate birth control, which would be a blatant violation of human rights.

You’ve stated very plainly why universal male sterilization should NOT be mandatory. Maybe it should be, for both parents, as a condition of a child getting welfare benefits, more than temporarily.
How about practical forms of male BC other than condoms? Vasectomies are often not reversible but if many more men did have vasectomies women would lose their minds as baby trapping would become impossible.
