First of, of course there is no hipocrisy since there is only one stated thing to be in favour of. No one has expressed a viewin which they are okay with one group of people committing crime in this scenario.

Second, this same logic can be applied as a principle with the paraphrasing that:

"Is it hypocritical to be in favour of more people existing, being born, etc, if you also understand that more people equal more crimes?"

And so having kids, moving to the city and many more things would all have the exact same issue. The statement is now functional.

The original question is also a common fallacy and among the first you learn to not fall for if you ever study things such as theory of knowledge, deductive/inductive reasoning, philosophy or related branches of science.

I believe it is reasonable to not misinterpret one thing for another. It is realistic to understand the possible good and bad impacts of every choice and take actions to mitigate the bad. And I believe near everyone regardless of political alignment would agree about that.
