This guy got killed/murdered by several teens in nyc. Seeing their careless disregard for life, you know their mentality. These are very sick kids that needed intervention long ago. So many of them around now to manage, doing a lot of damage. Good guy, 4 kids, working hard... and that's that!

If he was armed, would you as a citizen defend his right to defend himself and shoot the attackers, even if he "messed up a bit". You know what I'm thinking.. things aren't so simple when under threat. Maybe he shoots one legit and the other was running away by then and gets shot. run the scenarios in your head...

Hopefully you see the point of my question. The "Balance of power" in our country has shifted to the criminals. We need cleanup our society, get back to law and order, respect, get these people off the streets... before you or I "go down" the wrong way.

I made no other option.. I'm forcing you to choose. You will protect the victim to some degree, or you will hold them accountable for anything they do wrong. That's reality in court isn't it?

For what it's worth... I feel for this man and his family. They were what I'd call "good americans", "good immigrants" that make this country. I'd protect him, if I saw this I would have jumped in to help him... and probably got beaten up. We the people cannot allow sick people to destroy the country. simple as that.

Victims rights all the way, in fact we need more resources and help for victims of crimes. Only give the criminals the bare minimum required by the constitution.

Violent crimes are the worst, despite our laws that make them seem minor. Go ahead and try doing some white collar crimes and you go away for 40 years... and ordered to pay back millions (good luck paying anything back while in prison.)

Criminals forfeit all their rights when they commit the crime, the courts will give them back what is required to ensure their rights are respected at trial.

Had this person shot and killed all of them, I would of fully supported him in self defense than expected the criminals or their legal guardians (if not adults) to pay for his therapy and to help him get through the emotional difficulties of having taken another life.

I also personally think the Juvenile system should not handle felonies, all felonies should be done in the adult system. Do adult crimes, do adult time, but if they do non felony crimes, sure let the juvenile system handle it.

That is the only way real justice gets carried out, is to focus on the victim. Not this BS we have now days where some care more about the criminal and rehabilitating them than the actual victims.

Oh yeah. If I think someone's about to kill me, I don't care who it is I'm going to shoot them. I know there's a lot of people who will say things like "but they're young teens" etc... But I haven't grown and inch since I was 12. If I think someone has the reasonable ability to kill me, and they are actively trying to kill me, then yeah they're done.

Yes. The way it works - that a lot of people don't understand - is that criminals tend not to be 'nice'. They don't care if they put you in the hospital or kill you over $5 or $100. So when you think to yourself, 'poor thief. let me hope for the best and trust them not to hurt me' you're not being smart. The law in most places is if the bad guy even threatens you, you have a green light to take them out. You don't need to wait for them to hurt you first. And it used to be common for business owners to have the right to hurt criminals, even if they just caught the criminal stealing change BUT a lot of cry babies complained about that and said it wasn't fair... not realizing that it's also about respect. If a store is known as an easy mark then instead of 1 thief you'll have hundreds attacking you and taking your livelihood. Something that's hard for people who never REALLY had hard times in their lives or had to work hard LEGALLY to survive get.

I didn't have to kill them though... and they were not trying to kill me either, at least not with fire guns or other weapons, they were four and some of similar size so they still managed to somewhat kick my ass but just that

now, if I had felt that their intention was to kill me, or to rape or kill her... the situation had gone very differently because then I would have fought to knock them out cold, not to just make them stop and scare them away

and if they have had fire guns with them that day, then who knows... they could probably be that stupid to shoot and kill me, or I would have found myself in the position to neutralize that threat by any means necessary

yes, that's always a risk when you get involved in fights... you might not have the intention to kill someone, but you could still end up killing someone with a "bad hit" an unfortunate one

I wouldn't shoot someone who was fleeing, though. The whole goal is to eliminate the immediate threat.

Kids and teens have the same capacity for evil as adults, maybe not the reasoning or the impulse control as someone older than 25 but they can still kill. Even babies recognize good and evil. If someone comes for you or your family, defend yourself and your loved ones, the kids are a foe the moment they are a threat.

As stated I care for the good hard working decent people. The others need disciplined. I don’t care the color… my area is filled with people all over the globe looking for a better life and most generally find it. Personally met Somali Nigerian Thai Chinese Japanese Ukrainians who work hard and run businessses. This was a good man taken out by wounded children. You are right thst if we don’t take action to protect the workers and producers we will fail… sooner. Your insults just show I struck a raw nerve. For what it’s worth… I care for the kids who did this… probably one of the few. But that means intervening before these kinds of events when they have bad behavior and correcting it. Our society is failing in that regards and others whom are very controlled look more successful since they centralize the power more.
