I would certainly try to defend myself. No one knows how they will react until they are actually in that situation, but I would hope that I would shoot to disarm the kid and not go for a kill shot. . . and please don't tell me how risky that is; I already know that.

depending on the circumstances... you can aim at the gun, or you can aim to disarm, or to make them not capable of shooting... you can learn some of that from the Navy, it's very common down here
