Maybe not serving, but my greatgrandfather's brother was shot by Germans during the mass murder in 1939. There's a memorial in the place where it happened with names of victims (including his)

Four of my relatives served in WW2. 2 from each side of the family. 2 in Europe 2 in the South Pacific and I served in the Gulf War. None of us died and I can definitely say it changed all of us and every person I ever meet. Some good and some bad. I do not celebrate Memorial Day like most Americans with their BBQ and beer. Instead, I usually spend it remembering the past and watching documentaries (not movies on the war) And pray and give thanks to those who chose to serve today!
Yes, my grandfather.
Oh yeah, it should go without saying, but my grandfather was very much NOT killed in the war. He was a radio operator on a bomber in the South Pacific. After the war, he met and married my grandmother and remained married to her until his death in 2002.
I don’t know but maybe one of my ancestor served for the war since my dad's paternal grandpa was a forester and a really good friend of the King and dad's maternal grandpa was the King's main driver. My paternal ancestors were really politically active and even were freedom fighters. I'm not so sure about the war thing but most likely yes. I should ask this to my grandpa.
My great grandfather actually, my dad's grandpa. Since he was in the highest post of foresting department he was the King's friend.

My great grandfather served at the start of the war in the Territorial Army originally as part of the BEF in Norway, Belgium, France, North africa, Iraq, Greece, scilly and Italy. Another was a gunner in Lancaster bombers. Another fought the Japanese and was captured after the fall of Singapore. Another was dropped on D day as a paratrooper.
My paternal grandfather and maternal great-uncle served.
I honestly don't know off the top of my head. I believe Europe.
Oh yes it is. My grandma's brother from my mom's side went off to fight and was never seen again. To this day, we don't know what happened to him
My father served in France, Italy and Egypt as an army mechanic. Didn't talk about it much, like most of that generation.
My father and uncles were in WW2. My father was in the army and was a POW.
I actually dont know nor care to look up ancestors. Like celebrities I think I’d be disappointed. Grandpa Odd hid in a foxhole and then stole a medal from ike. He’s wanted to this day.
Yes. I have a relative who was in the Battle of the Bulge.
Eh, who cares. Military service is frowned upon by the majority of Americans and they either hate veterans or are indifferent to them. So much for fighting for your country.
Yeap, in Norway, Germany and I think maybe Sweden
