Yeah. I've been thrown out of both parents houses, my first two apartments and then fled for my life from the third which burned down (was burned down) shortly after.

I'll start with 2 things. One it's okay to be stressed. Moving ranks in the top 5 most stressful things that happen to the average person so eviction is a real genuine reason to panic a bit. But try not to. You'll be alright.

Two, I'll cut to the chase with my advice. I take it you are young, poor, and don't have much financial support. You need a solid income and a place to live. Call Steven's Transport, CRST, Roehl, TMC, Werner, Swift... they will set you up to get your CDL, put you in a truck and pay you $60k in your first year. You live rent free and you can pay for online school, or drive for a fee years and save up to go. The military is another option but it pays less and you get shot at so, seriously, living in a truck making good money is a lot better than being homeless.

But being homeless isn't a life sentence.
Here are some important things you need to know right now. In most states, a 30 day eviction notice is actually the first step in a long process. You probably have 2 or three months to figure things out before you actually have to get out. In general the process is 30 day "pay or quit"/eviction notice, then if you don't pay and don't move out on your own the landlord will file a claim with the court. That can take anywhere from a week or two to many months to be heard. You will be summoned to court to see the judge. You each tell your story, and in general if you haven't paid the judge will rule in your landlords favor and give you between 30 and 90 days to vacate. If you are still there when that time is up, the police will come escourt you out. How that works I'm not sure... but it rarely comes to that. In general you have anywhere from 3 to 6 months to get out from the day you get the eviction notice. It says 30 days, but it actually takes a lot longer.

If you have a car and a job, you are in good shape. I lived in my car and worked at the melting pot for like 6 weeks in the summer in VA. It sucked, but it was enough to save up and rent a different place. If you don't have a car you are gonna have a harder time. Where to go depends on a lot. Friends or family if you have them, look into shelters, I know plenty of people who do just fine in tents but you gotta be careful on your own with no locks. Best bet is go way out in the woods where no one can find you. Just don't get lost, and if you see a bear be calm. They are chill, but only if you are chill. If you yell they will get scared and try to kill you.

Apply for food stamps right away. You probably qualify. You probably also qualify for Medicaid. Medicaid paid for a $10,000 surgery I needed on my wrist, but you can't always apply after you get hurt. You have to apply before you need it. Food banks are amazing, you can usually get more than you need from them even without food stamps.

The beat solution is to talk to your landlord right away. Explain your situation and see if you can work out a plan to pay them and keep your place. Get a second job, borrow the money from someone, think about what you can do then pitch the idea to them. It's easier for them if you pay up and stay than it is you throw you out and re rent the place.

BUT, if you can't make a deal with them to stay, don't give them another penny. They can and will sue you. They probably will win. But it's extremely difficult for them to actually come take cash out of your wallet or bank account. If you are moving, you need to keep your money to rent a new place. So if you can't work out a deal to stay don't pay them until AFTER you get a new place and that rent is paid.

Apart from that, it all really depends on your situation. What's your goal? What's your situation, what are your options?

It's not a death sentence. I know a guy who was homeless by choice for many years and was much happier than I was living in a house. There is a gal on YouTube who lives in her prius and supports herself with the profit from the videos. She doesn't have a "real job" sounds fantastic to me.

Personally, I have a cat with asthma. She needs air conditioning to survive so we live in a truck. I'm actually still paying rent at home but I'm about to cancel it and put my stuff in a storage unit to save money.

The most important thing is to relax and understand you have time and options and you will be alright. Feel free to inbox me if you need any help figuring out what will work for you.

I've done it plenty of times. I lived in my car in 2019 and things are going alright for me. I'm looking at being well in the black by 2023 and then the question is do I buy a truck, some land, or a shiny new GSXR. . . And that was after losing my job and my new place to covid in 2020.

For all we know society will collapse next week and money will be useless. Just try not to worry any further ahead than you can plan.

Figure out if you can work things out with the landlord. If not, I recommend calling the trucking companies. But it's really up to you. It's definitely not a life sentence.

No, but I will try to get my neighbor upstairs evicted. He is messed up. He flooded my bathroom three times because he would turn on the water in his bathtub, clog it, and forget about it. Eventually the tub overflows and all the water came down ruining my ceiling and the ceiling of the owner below me. The first and 3rd times were not bad, but the second time literally tore part of the ceiling off and had to be repaired. If this happens one more time then that's it. I'm lucky that all three times happened while I was home. Imagine if I leave for work and not home for ten hours.

Yeah, I long time ago when I forgot to pay rent, they sent a notice that I would be evicted in 10 days if I did not turn my rent in. I don't live there anymore but now I remember to pay rent. Actually my current landlord reminded me about it before there would be a late fee once.

I thought that was nice. If I were you I would talk to them, see if there is any kind of a financial arrangment that could be made, it's worth a shot.

never. if landlord went so far as to send eviction notice, doubt they are willing to work with you unless you show up with the money.

My strong advice is: find backup plans, look for rooms to rent or options or get a tent... now!

Do not damage or destroy the property. Try to work out something with the landlord where he will give you a reasonable referral recommendation when you leave the place peacfully and in good order.

Two of my neighbors got evicted last year. It differs state to state but in my state, once you're served (court ordered 5 or 15 day) there really isn't anything you can do. The cops will actually show up and force you to leave. There is a hearing prior to the court order. In total it takes roughly 30 days.

What was the reason? Anyway check the local laws. A lot, and I mean A LOT, of such notices are legally deficient. A lot of landlords are CLUELESS about the legal actions required.

Here in Indiana 1 in 4 home owners is facing eviction and in Kentucky , it is even higher. So, homes will be flooding the markets causing 2008 crisis to look like a PTA meeting.
