Should September 11th be a national holiday?

It will be 21 years since the World Trade Center attack. Remembrance Day still has not been made a national holiday. In many places Veterans Day has been eliminated as a holiday and Columbus Day is now known as Indigenous people's Day. Is this an attack on our history?

I'm not impressed with the days off we have, so no. All we do is get together and eat, or play video games.

I think there should be a ceremony in NYC and possibly a holiday for them. but the holiday involves getting stuck in traffic trying to get to the tower area, reading the names of all the victims... including the ensuing ones in Afghanistan and Iraq because a bunch of people paid the price for that evil.

We have to be careful though because if some "nut jobs" think "hey... if we blow the H out of something and kill a bunch of people, I can be famous and make my own holiday". that be bad. and I doubt we are done with "terrorism".

frankly... I'm not sure what celebrating sept 11 means. we should take time and reflect and remember... so that we don't repeat. history says though... we will, we've not learned anything.

Sure, I'm all for another paid holiday but then again my work didn't even pay us for Juneteenth as a holiday, it was just another work holiday.

Then again, maybe election day should actually be a paid national holiday instead.

No, there are already too many holidays. They should reduce the number not increase them.

When the US government makes an official holiday, it mainly affects government workers and a few others. It gives another paid day off work for people who are already over paid and have great benefits - all at the expense of tax payers who work on those days.

Very few businesses adhere to those holidays. Most businesses don't even acknowledge most of the official holidays in any way. It means the majority of workers get paid less, so a minority of workers get a day off.

No. That's dumb. That would be celebrating what the terrorists did. And there's already two, if not three, "observance/memorial" holidays as it is. I think it should be remembered, but not a holiday. Labor Day is already like a week before it, anyway.

I would be ok with it. Though part of it should also be devoted to getting us completely out of the middle east, severing ties with countries such as Saudi Arabia and ensuring that we are energy independent. Because if we where not involved in the middle east for many generations and so dependent on them to meet our own energy needs, 9/11 would have never happened.

I think it should be but I think we need to remember what happened and not turning into some sort of memorial day or Wednesday were like yay we get day off 😀😀🤪🥳🥳🥳🤢🤢🤮😵‍💫) so maybe for one day we have every network and streaming app play a 5-10 minute video to remember the falling before you get to watch your show movie etc. I would hate to see it become one of those holidays that turn meaningless. Other wise it becomes another December 7th 1941 type deal

As for the issue with Colombus, he committed genocide. Also I don't think we need a national holiday for it. Most people who were alive then remember 9/11. That and January 6 will be remembered, regardless of whether or not the U. S. makes it a holiday

As bad as 9/11 was, I don't think it falls in the same kind of day that Memorial Day or Veterans Day does. Besides, there's already a holiday a week earlier (Labor Day) and it would be very unusual to have two holidays so close together.

You remember and perhaps commemorate tragedies. You don't celebrate them as national holidays. We remember December 7th, We don't celebrate it as a national holiday.
